Inside Jacob Elordi's Shocking ‘Frankenstein’ Transformation With 42 Prosthetics
Jacob Elordi is euphoric about his Oscars date.
The Frankenstein star—who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2026 ceremony hosted by Conan O’Brien—shared that his plus-one for the Mar. 15 event will be his mom Melissa Elordi. And for the pair, it’s a decade-old invite that is finally coming to fruition.
“I’m going to take mom,” Jacob said during his Jan. 27 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “I promised her when I was 15 that I would take her. So, I have to honor that.”
And while Jacob noted that his mom is usually “cool” around other celebs, there is one star in particular that would have her fangirling.
As he put it, “Yeah, John Travolta [and] I’d probably usher her to the next room.”
While the 28-year-old’s mom always knew that he would make it big, his dad John Elordi pushed for the Euphoria actor to have a practical backup plan.
“My mom fully believed in me the whole time,” he explained. “And I remember dad did the dad thing at one point where he was like, ‘You know, you’ve got to have a plan B because this isn’t necessarily feasible.’”
But Jacob had no doubt that he would be recognized for his acting chops someday, telling his dad at the time, "'My plan B is the Oscars.’”
And ultimately, his parents played a huge role in how the Priscilla star found out about his nomination. (He’s up alongside Delroy Lindo, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Stellan Skarsgård in the category)

“I’m far too nervous in the everyday, so I made sure that no one told me that this was happening,” he said of the night the nominations were released. “So, I went to bed and I was asleep comfortably and then I heard my mom’s phone ring at like 5 a.m. and then her little feet coming up the stairs and then her face sort of told me that I was nominated.”
While his mom was on-hand for the announcement, his dad was back home in Australia, though he still made sure to prepare for an international celebration.
“He actually knew that they were announcing the nominations and he put a bottle of champagne on ice and he stayed up until about midnight in Australia,” Jacob explained. “And he called me and we popped it together on the phone.”

After the film adaptation of her novel was nominated for Best Picture, among other categories, Maggie described it as "astonishing and joyous news."
"’m so grateful to the Academy for these nominations, which recognise and celebrate the work of so many talented individuals who worked on Hamnet," she added. "When I was writing the novel, it never occured to me that such a turn of events would be possible: I’m having to pinch myself at regular intervals because it all seems like a dream."
