Isla Fisher Shares How She Found Strength After Sacha Baron Cohen Divorce

Isla Fisher is confessing about her personal life.

One year after the Confessions of a Shopaholic star finalized her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen following 13 years of marriage, she shared insight into her new chapter.

“I'm much stronger than I thought I was, and I would say that my friendships, my female friendships, have really been instrumental to me discovering or recovering that strength,” Fisher exclusively told E! News at the Spa Weekend premiere in Las Vegas Aug. 7. “I'm incredibly grateful.”

And working with a stacked lineup of girlbosses—including Anna FarisMichelle Buteau and Leslie Mann—on the film in theaters Aug. 21 only made her feel more grounded in her latest phase of life.

“Honestly, it was so much fun,” Fisher said. “I feel like from the time we did the table read, we all just got along. I've known Anna for years, and Leslie and I had made a movie together and Michelle, I was a fan from afar.”

“But we all just had a natural chemistry and we're all girls’ girls,” she added. “So, there was a lot of support for each other and encouragement, and it was really special.”

Before Fisher and Cohen—who share three kids together—finalized their divorce in June 2025, the Now You See Me actress opened up about the heartache she endured over the split.

"It's the most difficult thing that I've been through and I've learnt so much about myself in the process,” the 50-year-old told The Sunday Times in February 2025. “I never imagined my family being separated, but we are committed and loving parents."

For Fisher, it was her friendships with women such as Courteney Cox and Kate Ritchie that kept her afloat as she and Cohen, 53, navigated their breakup.

"The women in my life have held me," she reflected. "I'm sitting here today because of them. I've learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I've just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It's been this expansive learning curve."

But the breakup has also been a path to self-discovery.

"I'm trying to remind myself of my new identity as somebody outside of a partnership and to stay as buoyant as possible," Fisher shared with Harper's Bazaar Australia in July 2025. "Any time there's change, it's hard to adapt. But hopefully I'm doing an OK job."
