Frankie Muniz is not a big fat liar when it comes to sharing his fondness for his past roles.

As the Malcolm In the Middle alum gears up to star in the upcoming revival of the beloved sitcom, he weighed in on the possibility of revisiting another one of his most memorable projects: the 2002 teen comedy Big Fat Liar.

“I'm always really proud of everything that I've done,” Frankie told E! NewsWill Marfuggi in an exclusive interview. “There's a few things I could have passed on, but for the most part, I love everything that I did. So if the script's good and it seems like it's gonna be a good thing, I'd love to revisit it.” (For more with Frankie, tune into E! News Feb. 11 at 11 p.m.)

In the film—which also starred Amanda Bynes, Paul Giamatti and Sandra Oh—Frankie played compulsive liar Jason Shepherd, whose school assignment is stolen by a Hollywood executive and turned into a big screen blockbuster. And Frankie still has a soft spot for the movie’s director Shawn Levy, who would later helm box office hits like Free Guy and Deadpool & Wolverine.

“He was such a cool, super energetic, fun director and did such a great job with that movie,” the 39-year-old recalled. “I would love to work with him again.”

And with all the talk of a potential sequel, Frankie couldn’t help but wonder what his character might be up to now.

“Did he truly learn his lesson that the truth is not overrated?” he wondered. “Or is he back in his lying ways? Maybe he's a huge film producer now, stealing stories from kids.”

While a Big Fat Liar sequel may not be in the works just yet, Shawn—who is also an executive producer and director on Stranger Things—previously shared that he’d love to make a follow-up focused on Paul’s villainous character.

“I’m still harboring dreams of a Marty Wolf revenge sequel,” the Canadian filmmaker told CinemaBlend in March 2022.“If I can do a Real Steel series on Disney+, I gotta be able to do the return of Marty Wolf!”
