EXCLUSIVE: Shortly after signing with Buchwald, actor Chris Pang has already booked a notable new studio project, joining Rachel McAdams in the cast of Sam Raimi’s horror-thriller Send Help for 20th Century Studios.
Character details are under wraps. As we were first to report over the summer, the film is billed as a two-hander set on an island, falling somewhere between Rob Reiner’s Misery and Robert Zemeckis’ Castaway. Based on an original script by Baywatch scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, it will be produced by Raimi and Zainab Azizi for Raimi Productions, and is expected to go the theatrical route.
Currently, Pang can be seen starring alongside Jimmy O. Yang in Hulu’s adaptation of the award-winning novel, Interior Chinatown, which premiered November 19. Since breaking out in Warner Bros’ smash hit Crazy Rich Asians, the actor’s been seen in a string of studio films, including Lionsgate’s comedy Joy Ride from Crazy Rich Asians scribe Adele Lim, Netflix/Universal’s Blade of the 47 Ronin, and Sony’s reboot of the Charlie’s Angels franchise.
Other film credits for Pang include MGM+’s The Portable Door, opposite Christoph Waltz, Neon/Hulu’s Palm Springs opposite Andy Samberg, as well as Seagrass, a TIFF-premiering indie in which he stars opposite Ally Maki. Also seen on Jason Katims’ critically acclaimed Amazon series As We See It, he continues to be represented by Stride, Active Artists Management, and Jackoway, Austen, Tyerman.
