Inter agrees to sign Curtis Jones from Liverpool for €35M

Inter Milan and Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement on the transfer of Curtis Jones, with the deal valued at €35 million. The move caps off a pursuit that has stretched across the entire summer window, with Inter chasing the English midfielder since at least May.

For Liverpool, it marks the departure of a homegrown talent entering the final year of his contract. For Inter, it’s the culmination of a patient, grinding negotiation strategy that saw multiple bids rejected before the two sides finally found common ground.

A long road to €35 million

This deal didn’t happen overnight. Inter first made their intentions clear months ago, but Liverpool wasn’t exactly rolling out the red carpet. Early offers in the range of €20-25 million were swatted away by the Anfield club, which pegged Jones’s value closer to €40 million.

The €35 million figure represents a compromise. Liverpool gets a fee north of €30 million (roughly £30 million) for a player they risked losing for free in twelve months. Inter gets the midfielder they’ve been tracking all summer without having to meet Liverpool’s full asking price.

Why Inter wanted Jones this badly

His development trajectory mirrored the club’s own evolution, moving from promising youngster to reliable contributor in one of Europe’s most demanding squads.

Reports have indicated that Jones himself was open to the move, which likely made the decision easier for Liverpool’s decision-makers.

The fee also validates Liverpool’s negotiating approach. By initially rejecting those lower bids in the €20-25 million range, they pushed Inter closer to their valuation and extracted roughly €10-15 million more than the Italian club’s opening positions.
