They're one of the most high-profile mother–daughter duos in the country despite largely keeping their relationship private.
And Katie Holmes and her 18-year-old daughter Suri Cruise have gone through plenty of public trials and tribulations over the years, particularly when it comes to the 46-year-old Dawson's Creek star's love life.
But the two have managed to maintain a solid, loving bond through the years despite hardships.
Those include the pain and heartbreak that came from Katie's failed marriage to Suri's father, Tom Cruise, to whom Suri reportedly is completely estranged.
More recently, her mother was the apparent subject of cruel comments by her ex-boyfriend Jamie Foxx.
Through it all, the two have stuck by each other, and now DailyMail.com takes a look back at Katie and Suri's bond through the years.

Katie's a regular source of casual-chic fashion inspiration thanks to her effortless ensembles when she's spotted strolling around New York City, but she more reserved with her daughter.
However, the two tend to make an exception when it comes to birthdays.
Katie, who celebrated her 46th birthday on Wednesday, got a special visit from Suri backstage at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway, where she's currently starring with The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons and Zoey Deutch in a production of Thorton Wilder's classic drama Our Town.
Katie revealed that Suri had gotten her a bouquet of lovely purple roses for her birthday when she posted a closeup snap of them to her Instagram Stories.
'I am so grateful for all of my blessings, especially my daughter,' she captioned the photo.
The Batman Begins star also shared that her Our Town collaborators had banded together to celebrate her birthday backstage at the Barrymore Theatre.
But it turned out to be a family affair, as Suri joined the gang to sing Happy Birthday to her mother, which was caught on video.
Suri, who began her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University this year, belted out the tune while holding up a photo of Robert Redford, who directed and acted with her husband Tom in his 2007 film Lions For Lambs.

Katie has supported her daughter's singing in her own film projects in recent years.
The nepo baby previously showed off her range with a cover of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's standard, Blue Moon, for Katie's sophomore directorial feature Alone Together (2022).
She also returned with another song for her mother's follow-up, 2023's Rare Objects.
Katie was also there to support Suri when she graduated from high school earlier this year, and the two were photographed sharing a sweet hug at the special event.
In 2020, Katie's The Secret: Dare To Dream costar Jerry O'Connell shared high praise for her parenting skills.
'Katie Holmes is really maybe the loveliest [person],' he gushed to Us Weekly.
'Just a few takeaways I got from working with Katie Holmes — obviously [she's] a great actress, obviously beautiful. But a great mom, a really great mom. Actually, like, an inspiring parent,' he continued.
Suri, who began her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University this year, has also worked on her singing voice with tunes recorded for two of Katie's directorial efforts

Katie keeps social media posts about Suri to a minimum, but she has previously celebrated her daughter on National Daughter's Day, and she has spoken loving about the teen several times.
'I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality,' she told InStyle in 2020. 'To make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it.'
She added that her daughter 'came out very strong — she's always been a strong personality.'
'She'll pick an activity and work her butt off until she's really good at it. Then she's like, "OK, I'm going to try the next thing." She's very focused and a hard worker,' Katie added.'
One of her biggest family trials was her split from international superstar Tom Cruise.
Katie began dating the Mission: Imposible star in April of 2005, and it was only seven weeks after they met that Tom popped the question to her.
She gave birth to Suri on April 18, 2006, which happened to be the one-year anniversary of her first date with Tom. The couple were married later that year in Italy.
During their time together, Katie began studying Tom's religion Scientology, which reportedly became an issue of contention between the two over time.

Cruise's religion, Scientology, was reportedly a sticking point for the couple after Katie opted to step away from the church
Tom revealed in 2013 that Suri no longer practices Scientology, and he was recently reported to have 'no part' in her life, though she and her mother have remained as close as ever
In 2012, after less than six years of marriage, Katie filed for divorce from Tom.
Sources close to her later claimed she feared that he might try to abduct their daughter, and her decision to step away from the Church of Scientology was reportedly an issue in their split.
A source recently told DailyMail.com that Scientology members at one point moved in with Tom and Katie to cater to his needs, which 'hurt the marriage.'
When Tom was forced to sit down for a 2013 deposition in a lawsuit, he revealed that his daughter Suri was also no longer a practicing member of Scientology.
A source revealed last year that the Top Gun: Maverick star has 'no part' in his daughter's life, which may be related to Scientology, as adherent are instructed not to interact with people who have disavowed the Church of Scientology, who are referred to as suppressive people.
In the same deposition, Cruise revealed that his two older children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman, Connor and Bella — who reportedly still practice Scientology — had not been in contact with Katie after their split.
One of Katie's other high-profile relationships was with another A-lister, Jamie Foxx.
The two were first linked in 2013, but it wasn't until 2015 that their relationship was confirmed.

Jamie recently joked in song about dating 'no more white girls' in his new Netflix special, which some fans saw as a shot at Katie. Suri's close contact with her mom in recent days show's she's still a major source of support despite her ex's hurtful words
Katie, who had largely steered clear of the dating scene since her divorce from Tom, was surprisingly public with her affections for Jamie, though she kept comments about the relationship to a minimum.
Despite a new level of public appearances beginning in 2018, they were reported to have split by 2019.
The Oscar winner, who recently revealed that he suffered a brain bleed and stroke that left him temporarily unable to walk, seemed to refer to their relationship in his new Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…
While seated at the piano, he sang, 'Sisters, I'm here to tell you, I've been cured.
'I've been cured of everything, no more white girls. I'm serious, no more white girls. No more white girls. No more. No more white girls,' he sang.
As audience members applauded and cheered, he continued: 'I'm back on the black side of town! No more white girls. No more potato salad and raisins. No more white girls. No more spray tan, no more big t***ies no a**, no more white girls.'
Fans criticized him for the remark, with some claiming it was racist. However, it's unclear if the lines were specifically inspired by Katie, as he has been seen spending time with other white women since their breakup, and he may have simply drafted the tune for pure comedic purposes.
