Eminem’s Daughter Hailie Jade Debuts Baby Bump One Month After Announcing Pregnancy
Looking into his daughter's eyes usually makes Eminem feel less crazy.
But maybe not the time he found out his baby girl was having her own baby.
"He was like, ‘Are you trying to call me old?" Hailie Jade said on her Just a Little Shady podcast in October, recalling how she broke her pregnancy news to her dad by presenting him with a No. 1 "Grandpa" Detroit Lions jersey. "Then I hold up the ultrasound picture and he was like, 'Oh my god. Wait, this is real? This is happening?'"
Indeed, Marshall Mathers III is going to be a grandfather: Hailie is expecting a baby boy with husband Evan McClintock.
And once the reality sunk in, Eminem owned the moment.
The 52-year-old, who lost his mother Debbie Nelson this year, let it be known that his family tree was growing in the video for "Temporary," his tear-jerker of a promise to Hailie that she'll be fine, even after he's gone.
In addition to sweet personal photos and home movie footage, including scenes from their father-daughter dance at her May wedding, the video shows the literally jaw-dropping moment when Hailie gifted Eminem his extra-special jersey.

But while the world didn't find out about Hailie's expectant status until she posted about it and the video came out, both on Oct. 3, it turns out that she was already pregnant when she and Evan swapped vows—a secret that she kept from almost everyone present for their Battle Creek, Mich., nuptials.
"People did not know that she was pregnant," close friend and cohost Brittany Ednie shared on the Oct. 4 episode of Just a Little Shady. "So she was, you know, grabbing a drink, not consuming the drink as a responsible parent does. Whenever people were turned around, she would hand me her drink, and I would chug so it looked as if she was continuously drinking throughout that night."
Instead, Hailie said, "Brittany was taking one for the team."

The cat was out of the bag this fall, though, and when Hailie and Evan were wedding guests in November, she happily cradled her bump in a photo of the couple all dressed up, writing, "Ending wedding season with my favorite plus 2."
Evan, meanwhile, has been her plus-one since 2016, when they met as students at Michigan State University.
The pair have a pretty small social media footprint, with Hailie only sharing a relative handful of photos documenting their togetherness with her 3.9 million Instagram followers. But privacy mode has obviously worked, allowing them the space to enjoy their milestones with their nearest and dearest and then share as they see fit.
For instance, Evan—who, according to LinkedIn, is Director of Sales & Product at Michigan software development company Scout—made a rare appearance on his then-fiancée's podcast to reveal what it was like asking Eminem for his daughter's hand in marriage.
Pretty sweet, as it turned out!

"It was over the holidays," he recalled on a February 2023 episode. "I was just looking for an opportunity not to make it too obvious."
Evan continued, "I saw your dad go downstairs and [thought], ‘Alright. I got to do it right now or I’m not doing it today. I’m going to have to schedule some other time.' So, I just followed him downstairs and thankfully, he was just down there, grabbing your [birthday] cake."
After getting the go-ahead, Evan bought a ring the day after Hailie's birthday, which also happens to be Christmas.
"After I ordered it," he added, "we were at my family's and we were all talking about rings and I think you mentioned you had no idea what you wanted, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I just ordered this ring. She's saying she doesn't know what she wants!'"
Considering how much screen time the bauble has received since, it appears Evan did just fine.
And now they're going to be parents!

"Feeling beyond thankful for this adventure-filled year. From San Fran > London > Tampa > wedding > all things music > the Bahamas > Charleston > finding out I was pregnant > Lolla > all of our friends weddings & puppy cuddles > finding out baby m is a baby boy AND all the moments in between...so grateful & blessed," Hailie captioned a Nov. 27 photo montage, throwing out highlights like her dad spits rhymes.
The 29-year-old has also been busy learning the ins and outs of pregnancy, pausing to reflect on the longer-than-she-knew list of things she had heard she should steer clear of while expecting, including deli meats, diet soda, hot tubs, saunas, unpasteurized juice, cookie dough and grapes (though she called that last one "arguable" and just one of the many things she'd heard).
"You kind of hear some things that you can't do or you can't have while you’re pregnant," Hailie noted on the Nov. 1 episode of her podcast, specifically lamenting that she couldn't sample the Jimmy John's Picklewich. "But then you get into some of the other stuff and you're just like, 'Why? Why do you need to take this away from me?'"
After she found out she was pregnant, she added, "I said this about my last margarita, my last Coke Zero, my last deli sandwich: If I would have known those were my last ones, I would have savored the moment."
Still, small prices to pay for the moments she'll be savoring as a new mom in the new year. See where Evan and Hailie's son sits in No. 1 Grandpa's family tree:
