Inside Danny Miller's 'year of reinvention' as Emmerdale star shows off weight loss transformation after being fat shamed by cruel trolls

Danny Miller wowed fans as he unveiled his new look this week after embarking on a diet and fitness overhaul.

The Emmerdale star, 35, shared a before and after snap on Sunday as he reflected on a 'year of reinventing myself', stating: 'I never in a million years believed this was achievable, genuinely.'

Danny had previously laughed off comments about his appearance, with the actor clapping back after cruel trolls branded him 'fat' in tweets after he returned to Emmerdale in 2023 to reprise his role as Aaron Dingle.

The father-of-three ended up deleting his X/Twitter profile but not before he responded to the troll to insist he was 'unbothered'.

'Say what you want about Aaron. He's fictional, I play what I'm told to play,' he tweeted. 'But please don't think commenting about 'Danny' being 'fat' or 'chubby' will EVER bother me.

Danny ended by stating: 'I'm sat eating a greasy kebab AND a pizza, laughing at you whilst gulping a FULL FAT COKE,' adding a laughing face emoji.

The following year, Danny poked fun at his appearance in a TikTok post, joking that he resembled 'fat Wolverine'.

He shared a shirtless video looking at himself in the mirror, as he mused: 'So I just finished work for six weeks now. I've got six weeks off, which is good. It gives me the chance to do a six week transformation which I've seen trends.

'As you can tell, I've let myself go a bit. My face is round, I've got about four or five chins, beard's long, hair's a mess, like a fat Wolverine, effectively, so no time like the present.'

The screen then cut to black indicating a time lapse, before Danny reappeared looking the same.

He then joked: 'Yeah I couldn’t be a***d. I tried… I didn’t even have a hair cut really. This could have all been filmed in one day, couldn’t it? So yeah…'

However, in 2025 Danny decided to make a change, giving up booze.

In April, he shared throwbacks from his nights out drinking along with a poem about his new sober lifestyle.

He penned: 'I swapped late nights and one more round/ For early mornings where I found / A clearer head, a steadier pace / A version of me I’m proud to face

To my beautiful wife and children. Thanks for helping me change my life, try and to better yours.'

He later clarified: 'I don't want to be a voice or an advocate, I just want to better myself in health and mind for my family. I hope this inspires you to do the same ❤️'.

Danny also credited switching to skimmed milk with helping him slim down, sharing: 'I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything except the extra calories.

'I don't understand the sorcery, but I'm definitely having another!'

Danny is bet known for his role as Aaron Dingle in Emmerdale, a part he's played on and off since 2003 (pictured on the soap with co-star Marc Silcock in 2010)

Last month he celebrated one year of sobriety, telling his followers in a video: 'Hi, I'm Danny. I'm 35. And today marks one year of sobriety. One year since I last had a drink.

'One year of reinventing myself for my family, trying to be better for myself, my children, for my wife, for my family.

'It's an emotional day for me, because I never in a million years believed this was achievable, genuinely.

'A year to the day. A Friday. That was always the thing that stuck in my mind 'who gives up drink on a Friday' – well, me.'

Danny captioned the clip: ' "If I can do it. So can you!” For my kids, my wife, for me. One year, no beer ❤️'.

On Sunday, Danny illustrated his transformation with a before and after snap.

He penned: 'It's not until you see old pictures that you realise how much you've changed.

'Looking at the photo on the left, I remember feeling run down, tired and constantly putting myself at the bottom of the priority list.

'Like a lot of parents, I was so busy trying to be everything for everyone else that I forgot to look after myself.

'To be the best husband I can be. To be the best dad I can be. I first needed to be the best Danny I could be.

'The photo on the right isn't about being perfect. It's about feeling healthier, happier and having more energy for the people who matter most.

'Still a work in progress, but I'm proud of how far I've come. ❤️'
