Inside Chappell Roan's ridiculous entourage and 'diva' demands that left Aussie festival insiders stunned

When it comes to life on the road, it appears that Chappell Roan is not one to do things by halves.

The Good Luck, Babe hitmaker is currently in Australia headlining the touring Laneway Festival with stops in the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

And the US pop star is reportedly touring with a set-up so elaborate that it has left some seasoned festival insiders doing double takes.

Sources have told Daily Mail that Chappell came to Australia with a formidable entourage of no less than 28 people for the five-date run.

And Chappell's retinue was much more than roadies and security staff.

Insiders claim that her inner circle included close friends, family members, hair and make-up artists, fashion stylists and creative collaborators.

'People were genuinely shocked,' one source claimed.

'You just don't usually see an entourage that size on a festival run. Especially for someone still considered a relatively new global breakout.'

However, while the scale of Chappell's travelling roadshow raised some eyebrows, it also sparked admiration from some festival veterans.

'She runs it like a pop dynasty,' the insider added. 'It's very deliberate and very controlled.'

The extent of the operation became especially clear during her Gold Coast stop, where facilities were dramatically reconfigured to cater exclusively to the star and her team.

At Southport Sharks – the venue for the Gold Coast leg of Laneway – Chappell reportedly shut down an entire gymnasium and yoga studio to be transformed into a private green room for the pop star and her impressive entourage.

And her makeshift digs were fitted out with all the mod cons any self-respecting pop star could wish for.

'These weren't just basic rooms with a couch,' the source said.

'They were roped off, styled and fully stocked: food, alcohol, everything you could think of.'

Dedicated runners were assigned to manage the group, while Chappell herself was kept separate from other festival artists, who used standard green rooms elsewhere on site.

Despite Chappell's state-of-the-art setup, insiders were adamant there was no diva behaviour on site.

In fact, those working on the tour said the singer and her team were openly delighted by Australia.

'She absolutely loved the crowds,' the source explained. 'The energy, the inclusivity, the way people showed up for her. It really landed.'

Chappell is said to have been particularly moved by Australian audiences embracing her theatrical performances and unapologetic pop persona, with some insiders suggesting the local response exceeded expectations.

Some industry observers said that the scale of the entourage was not about a flagrant display of excess, but rather a statement of intent from Chappell.

'This is what it looks like when an artist steps into the big leagues,' one source claimed.

'She's building something long-term, not just riding a viral moment.'

And if converting gymnasiums into full-blown Pink Pony Palaces is the cost of pop superstardom, Australia, it seems, is more than happy to roll out the red carpet.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to representatives for Chappell Roan for comment.

She also wore a pair of loose-fitting, wide-leg trackpants, completing her look with a pair of white sneakers.

Chappell's airport appearance came just days after she announced she had cut ties with her talent agency, Wasserman, after its founder's raunchy emails to Ghislaine Maxwell were released.

'As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman,' the Grammy-winner, 27, said on Monday.

'I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict deeply with our own moral values,' she continued.

Files recently published by the Department of Justice included several emails between Wasserman and Jeffrey Epstein's accomplice, discussing 'massages,' 'rubbing' and naked beach frolics.

'I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists and I refuse to passively stand by,' Roan added in her Instagram Stories post.

Roan added that, 'artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity.'
