Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Anthony Head was a busy actor who appeared in over 100 projects during his 50-year career.

But the British star was also very much a family man as he had two children with his partner of over 40 years.

Head, who died on Thursday at age 72, shared daughters Emily and Daisy, with animal welfare advocate and author Sarah Fisher.

Head and Fisher met in 1983 backstage at the National Theatre in London and set up a home in Bath, England, but never married.

Sadly, Fisher died just six months ago. 'It is immensely shocking to us all, and came with very little warning,' Emily and Daisy announced in December 2025. 'No words could ever express all that she encompassed.'

Sarah was 61 years old at the time of her death, according to the BBC.

Their meeting was electric, Head said, as he was instantly smitten.

'I was doing a play called Danton's Death and for the last entrance I had to come on as a soldier taking traitors to the guillotine,' he told Hello! magazine in 2001.

'I'd wait in a corridor at the back with my musket and one day this beautiful lady walked past carrying a pint of beer for some guy front of house.'

Head, who was educated at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, added, 'I got there earlier and earlier in the hope I'd see her again. Eventually, we'd sit and chat before I'd have to go on for a beheading.'

When production ended he didn't see her again but secured her phone number from a colleague.

'Two weeks later the phone rang, it was him,' Fisher said. 'That night, we got together and we've been together ever since.'

Head told The Mirror in 2012 that they never actually married. 'I've asked her to marry me several times, but she's not interested,' he said.

Head and Fisher welcomed two daughters, Emily, 37, and Daisy 35.

He worked for years in Los Angeles to be a part of Buffy the Vampire Slayer but quit during season six so he could return home to the UK with to be with his family.

'It's always been a family decision as to how long I'd be out there, so when I first asked them what they thought of me leaving, they said: "Please don't. It's a really cool show and we like you in it,"' Head told The Guardian in 2002.

'When we eventually agreed that I'd become a recurring regular rather than a series regular, Emily found it especially difficult to come to terms with the fact I wasn't in the opening credits any more,' he recalled.

The family's main house was in Bath, Somerset, and they also had residences in Surrey and Alnwick, Northumberland.

Their daughters have both become actresses.

Daisy is known for her roles in the BBC One drama The Syndicate, the Freeform series Guilt, the Hulu series Harlots, the Netflix series Shadow and Bone, and the Amazon Prime series The Gray House.

Her films include Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

Emily's breakout role was as in E4's sitcom The Inbetweeners, and she later played Rebecca White in ITV soap opera Emmerdale and Colette Andrews in BBC drama The Syndicate.

Head has also worked with both of his daughters: he played Daisy's step-father in the Freeform show Guilt, and Emily's dad in BBC comedy-drama miniseries The Invisibles.

The British actor 'passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia'. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death.

A statement released by his daughters read: 'It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anthony Head.

He passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family.

'It has been, and forever will be, an honor and a privilege to be his daughters, and to have witnessed firsthand the impact both he and his work have had on so many.

'We know how dearly he will be missed by friends, colleagues, and fans of the shows he was in - he loved his job very much, and he always considered himself incredibly lucky, to have been able to work alongside such exceptionally talented people, in such wonderful productions, across a career that spanned several decades.

He became known across households in the UK in the 1980s due to his role in the Nescafé Gold Blend TV adverts.

More recently, he found a new generation of fans as the villainous billionaire Rupert Mannion in Apple TV+'s award-winning comedy Ted Lasso.
