Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo just signed on to executive produce the second season of Hulu's Good American Family after producing and starring in season one.
But this time, creator Katie Robbins will center her true-crime anthology series on the 1993-94 trial between Virginia married couple John Wayne Bobbitt and Lorena Bobbitt Gallo, according to Deadline.
The 56-year-old DV advocate notoriously severed the 59-year-old retired US Marine's penis with a knife in 'a desperate act of self-defense' after alleging he repeatedly raped and abused her.
Gallo then drove off and tossed Bobbitt's manhood on a field near their Manassas home, but police were able to recover the member and doctors spent four hours surgically reattaching it to his body.
During the ensuing two criminal trials, a jury acquitted Gallo by reason of temporary insanity for malicious wounding and a jury acquitted Bobbitt for marital sexual assault.
The estranged couple officially ended their six-year marriage in 1995 – three years after he secretly welcomed his son Andrew in 1992 with mistress Beatrice Williams.

Bobbitt, whose story will be told in Fear fame Productions' upcoming documentary Breaking The Silence, went on to show off how well his reattached genitalia was functioning in a series of adult films.
Meanwhile, the former nanny and Zumba enthusiast founded the nonprofit Lorena Gallo Foundation in 2018, which aims to help survivors and victims of domestic violence.
Gallo welcomed 21-year-old daughter Olivia with babydaddy Dave Bellinger, and they share a $640,000 rented four-bedroom home in Prince William County.
The new limited series comes a year after the 56-year-old Golden Globe nominee portrayed adoptive mother Kristine Barnett in the eight-episode first season, which has amassed 140 million hours streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
