Incredible Star Wars Concept Film Gives Ahsoka Tano A Nightsister Padawan

1 week ago 7

This breathtaking Star Wars concept film imagines Ahsoka Tano taking on a young Jedi Padawan with ties to the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Both Ahsoka and the Nightsisters were introduced to the canon Star Wars timeline on-screen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and both proved incredibly popular. In fact, not only is Ahsoka largely considered one of Star Wars' best characters, but also, both Ahsoka and the Nightsisters have returned to Star Wars movies and TV shows, most recently in live-action in the Ahsoka show. Now, this new concept film brilliantly brings Ahsoka and the Nightsisters together again.

The incredible Star Wars concept film, titled Star Wars: Rendezvous, was posted on YouTube by Antigravity Films LLC. In addition to truly stunning costuming, visual effects, and acting, the film introduces a young Nightsister child who ends up caught between Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul.

This concept film clearly earned the awards it has won, as it not only perfectly captures many of the sounds, visuals, and characters of Star Wars but also serves as a reminder of how much potential Nightsister stories hold.

The Nightsisters Have Been An Excellent Addition To Star Wars

Although the Nightsisters were introduced in The Clone Wars, they have since reappeared in multiple Star Wars shows recently. In fact, the Nightsisters made the jump to live-action, most notably in Ahsoka, when it was revealed that a small group of Nightsisters survived on Peridea. Individual Nightsister stories have also been told, including with Asajj Ventress' return in Star Wars: The Bad Batch and with Morgan Elsbeth's appearances in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Star Wars: Tales of the Empire.

There also seemed to be some link between the witches of Brendok in The Acolyte and the Nightsisters of Dathomir, although, sadly, with The Acolyte's cancelation, that seems unlikely to be explored further. Nevertheless, the Nightsisters' more prominent role in Star Wars is evident, and it reveals an interesting trend in the franchise. Specifically, since the end of the Skywalker Saga with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the franchise seems much more willing to explore stories outside the Jedi and the Sith.

While neither the Jedi nor the Sith will truly be removed from Star Wars, it is exciting to see that other stories are being told. This has included the stories of everyday people, such as in Andor, but it has also meant the introduction of Force-users who are not Jedi (or Sith). The Mandalorian's Grogu is an excellent example of this, but the Nightsisters are distinct even from him, as they represent not a standalone Force-user but rather an entire group. The confirmation that the Force really is so much bigger than the Jedi and the Sith is truly thrilling.

The Nightsisters' story is also almost certainly not over in Star Wars. Presumably, they will return in the upcoming Ahsoka season 2, and Asajj Ventress is confirmed to be returning in an unidentified future Star Wars project. For now, though, this brilliant Star Wars concept film reinforces that both Ahsoka Tano and the Nightsisters still have so much potential in the franchise.
