Incredible moment a delighted Russell Crowe catches stray ball that flew into the crowd at French Open

Russell Crowe is a big tennis enthusiast - and he had the ultimate fan experience at the French Open on Sunday. 

The Australian actor was attending the match between Alexander Zverev of Germany and Benjamin Bonzi of France at Stade Roland Garros in Paris, when he caught a stray ball that flew into the crowd. 

Sitting alongside his girlfriend Britney Theriot, 42, Russell expertly plucked the ball from the air as it whizzed by him. 

Britney reacted with shock and delight as she watched on while Russell scrambled to catch the fast-moving object in his fist. 

The 62-year-old was visibly pleased as punch as he showed off his prize to a stunned Britney, before holding it up victoriously for the crowd to see. 

A staffer rushed over to Crowe to snap a photo of the historic occasion, with Russell absolutely beaming as he flaunted his rare souvenir. 

He was then treated to a round of applause from impressed tennis spectators. 

Russell excitedly chatted to Britney as he basked in his accidental victory, with the couple inspecting the ball and laughing in awe over the unusual experience.  

The Gladiator star dressed formally for the match, donning a navy blue suit paired with a grey waistcoat. 

He added a baby blue tie that matched his shirt, and completed the look with aviator sunglasses. 

Former actress Britney also opted for a suit, hers in black, worn with a striped dress shirt and reflective sunglasses. 

She added a chunky, designer watch in a gold metal, and carried a grey Hermès Birkin bag. 

Russell was looking dapper and robust, with his weight loss on display. 

The Oscar-winner has undergone a significant weight loss over the past year, revealing on the Joe Rogan podcast recently that he has shed 26 kilos.

The actor also revealed that while he still enjoys a drink, he has drastically cut down his alcohol intake.

During the chat, the heavy-set superstar confessed that when he completed his latest film, Nuremberg, he was a hefty 126 kilos.

'I'm 100.9 now,' he said, clearly pleased with his new look.

Crowe said he was assisted in his transformation by health services platform Way2Well.

Meanwhile, Russell's romance with Britney is going strong.

The couple went red carpet official in October 2022 at the Rome premiere of Russell's movie Poker Face, following the start of their romance in November 2020.

Before striking up an intimate connection, the pair had initially met on the set of the thriller Broken City in 2013.

A New Orleans native, Britney is a former actress and former Saints cheerleader.
