Nowadays, Marvel superheroes get put through wringer after wringer with fantastical crisis events. Coming out of the events of Blood Hunt and spiraling into the event to come of One World Under Doom, it doesn't always seem like there's a space for comic fans to breathe and enjoy their favorite characters. Thanks to the holidays, some variant covers are bringing some much deserved peace and calm to the Marvel world.
There are ten comics coming out for some famous Marvel heroes in December, and Marvels' new "Winter Holiday" variant cover line is giving fans a glimpse of some holiday joy. They show scenes of Hulk dressed as Santa, a holiday feast in Valhalla, and the Spider-Family playing in the snow. Even Daredevil gets in the spirit and tops a tree with a star.
Joy abounds in every one of the covers, and these variants also give off a gentle calm that is reminiscent of the holiday season and nostalgic for fans of both this time of year and of Marvel Comics in general. The Winter Holiday variants will be available throughout December.

Of these many characters featured in the Winter Holiday variants, fans might remember just who created so many of them. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby are often heralded as the main inventors of Marvel Comics, alongside other gigantic names like Steve Ditko. Nearly all the characters glimpsed in these holiday variant covers were created in the sixties by these men, and sometimes, with the modern and often dark tone that comics have taken, it's easy to forget the more simple origins that they came from.

While the world grows more dangerous in comics and villains require modern solutions, these famous Marvel heroes, at their core, come from a much happier background where the good guys always win. These variant covers offer a glimpse of that memory for comic fans who might not have gotten the pleasure of growing up with these versions of the characters. It's not just a relaxing break from the modern excitement of comics; it's a full homage to the truth of what these characters stand for.
