Iconic Dexter Villain's R-Rated Crime Thriller Is Tearing Up Netflix Streaming Charts

Everyone's favorite serial killer, Dexter, faced many foes throughout the series, including some iconic characters, and one of those villains' R-rated crime thrillers is dominating the streaming charts and taking over Netflix.

Clancy Brown starred in Dexter's sequel series, Dexter: New Blood, as the terrifying serial killer Kurt Caldwell. His role throughout the sequel was truly horrifying, and now his film is tearing through Netflix's charts nearly 13 years after its release.

The R-rated crime thriller Homefront is trending on Netflix and currently sits at number eight in Netflix's top 10 movies this week in the U.S. The movie is also performing well on Tubi as it sits at number two on the streaming service's top 10. Directed by Gary Fleder, known for Don't Say a Word and Runaway Jury, the movie stars Jason Statham, Kate Bosworth, James Franco, Winona Ryder, Omar Benson Miller, and Frank Grillo.

Homefront follows Statham's character Phil Broker after he quits the DEA due to his cover being blown during a failed mission. Broker retires to a small town with his young daughter, Maddy (played by Izabela Vidovic). However, trouble follows as Broker gets into a fight with a local drug lord, Gator (played by Franco).

Homefront divided audiences and critics, with critics rating the movie at 42% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience scoring the action movie a 61% rating. The movie grossed over $51 million worldwide against a $22 million budget. It also generated $14.8 million through digital sales, making the overall revenue total over $66 million.

Brown is also known for The Penguin, Starship Troopers, SpongeBob SquarePants, Fallout, and The Shawshank Redemption, with a career spanning decades. The actor will be voice acting in Invincible's upcoming season as well as Nightwatching.

Statham is the leading man in Homefront, and is known for his many roles in action movies, including Crank, Snatch, Fast X, and The Beekeeper. The actor has a few upcoming projects, including Fast Forever, Viva La Madness, The Beekeeper 2, and Mutiny.
