Icon Meets Icon in the New Trailer for ‘The Muppet Show’ Revival

We had a tiny tease last month of Kermit getting ready for The Muppet Show‘s grand, one-night-only return, but Disney is ringing in the new year with a fresh new look at the mayhem we can expect out of the Muppets’ big TV comeback—as well as the debut of their very special new guest.

Disney and ABC have released a slightly more extended look at the 50th anniversary special return of The Muppet Show, set to air next month. It’s short and sweet, befitting that the Muppets are returning with pop starlet Sabrina Carpenter as their musical guest for the variety show’s resurrection.

Brief as it may be, it’s still delightful—of course Miss Piggy and Sabrina Carpenter get on like a house on fire—but even in this very short clip, we get a good picture of how Seth Rogen’s revival of the beloved show (beyond his delight to be here, as he makes his own little appearance too) is going to be dancing around the fact that this one-off could lead to a full-on return of the series. The answer? It’s going to tell you that a lot, as Kermit notes to us in his narration.

It’s nice that the will-they-won’t-they of it all is going to actually be a part of the show’s return just because it’s something the Muppets can have a bit of behind-the-scenes fun with, rather than that potential just looming over the show. It looks like there’s going to be plenty of fun beyond that too, between Carpenter herself and the rest of the Muppet crew’s shenanigans.

The Muppet Show returns for one night only (for now) on Disney+ and ABC February 4.
