I've never been so excited for a coffee maker — the Philips Baristina just got a huge upgrade with an integrated smart steam wand for perfectly foamed milk

  • The Philips Baristina Latte is a bean-to-cup coffee maker with steam wand
  • The auto wand has three texture settings, and works with plant or dairy milk
  • It's available now direct from Philips for $499.99 (about £380 / AU$710)

Philips has just launched a new version of one of my all-time favorite coffee makers. The Philips Baristina Latte solves the biggest issue with the original Baristina by adding an automatic steam wand to make foaming milk a breeze.

The classic Philips Baristina is available bundled with a separate milk frother (which my colleague Max Langridge awarded four stars out of five in his review), but the designers at Philips took note of feedback from customers who wanted an easier way to achieve just the right milk texture for drinks such as lattes and cappuccinos.

The new Smart Wand milk system steams milk automatically, and has a simple dial that lets you choose between hot milk, fine foam, and airy froth. It's designed to work with both dairy milk and plant-based alternatives such as oat and almond, and has no hidden internal parts that are difficult to clean.

The Baristina Latte is available to buy now direct from Philips for $499.99 (about £380 / AU$710). Like the original Baristina, it's available in black and white, and has a sleek design with a matte finish, clean lines, and simple controls.

I don't yet know when the Baristina Latte will launch in the UK, but I'll put it through its paces and bring you a full review as soon as it does

If lattes aren't really your thing, the original Philips Baristina is now just $225.99 at Amazon (was $449.99). That's half price, and the best deal I've seen ahead of Amazon Prime Day next week.
