"I've Been Bamboozled": Animal Crossing: New Horizon's Player Finds Out Their Precious Art Is A Fake Thanks To Redd

1 day ago 3

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players were reminded today of one of the game’s most important lessons -- never trust Redd, even when he has a bustling storefront. After inviolabilitey bought a painting from Redd, it was revealed to be fake, as Blathers dropped the harsh truth on the player as they attempted to sell it.

Redd’s shady behavior is nothing new to fans and players of the game. If one of his offers seems too good to be true, odds are it is, and once a player gets their hands on a fake piece of art, those bells are gone for good. There are plenty of other ways to earn bells to recoup the loss, however, and to ensure players are getting a fair deal.

Animal Crossing Player Reminds Fans Never To Trust Redd... Ever!

Redd’s Deals Are Anything But The Real Deal

Inviolabilitey had their expectations too high for Redd after purchasing a painting from his shop on Harv’s Island. Assuming the deals would be better than the items he sells on his boat, the Redditor purchased a painting believing it was authentic. “I’ve been really careful about what I buy from him, so this was my first fake,” the user stated after it was revealed that the painting was indeed fraudulent. The player shared images of their interaction with Blathers, in which Blathers revealed to the buyer that the painting was a fake.

To add salt to the wound, Tommy and Timmy said they were not interested in a fake, alerting Inviolabilitey to the fact that they “were art snobs.” While there are no guarantees when buying from Redd, many agreed that nothing was worse than getting shamed by fellow villagers for buying these fakes, even inadvertently. Purchasing fakes also prevents a user from selling them and earning bells, which can be a frustrating lesson to learn when trying to make some bells in Animal Crossing.

Fortunately, there are other ways to earn a bell or two, which other Reddit users kindly pointed out.

There Are Still Bells That Toll When Purchasing A Fake

Inviolabilitey was quick to seek advice on how to earn bells after purchasing fake art. While there is little monetary value to a player with the fake art, there are other quick ways to make money. 420cat-craft-gamer69 mentioned diving as their main source of income, right after they emptied their pockets. Diving usually earns them between twenty-five and thirty thousand bells - a pretty sizable amount. If diving isn't something a player can do at the moment, one can also look for the money rock, which is another great way to earn bells rather quickly.

Many players mentioned tossing their fake art pieces, but some have decorated their homes or the homes of neighbors as well. While these will not earn a player bells, they are a fun way to reuse a more frustrating element of the game. Getting fake art is never the ideal situation, it doesn’t take away from the visual value it can have in a garden or as a gift to a neighbor that a player dislikes. It may not always be easy to spot a fake, even for the most discerning player, but there are still other quick ways to earn bells in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and have a little fun with the fake art.
