For those familiar with Park's work, her role as judge Kang Bit-na, possessed by the demon judge Justitia, was one of several hits amid her resurgence following the medical romance series Doctor Slump and, most recently, Undercover Miss Hong. Park's talent has only continued to shine in recent years, and with her performance in The Judge from Hell, as well as much of her cast, being particularly lauded in the 2024 K-drama season for home network SBS, this is certainly welcome news. As confirmed at South Korea's SBS DRAMA: NEXT EPISODE event reported via Soompi, The Judge from Hell is set for a 2027 return for season 2.

The Judge From Hell Returns For Season 2 With Its Biggest Star

In the latest win for K-drama fans craving more of their favorite stars, particularly after hits like All of Us Are Dead and Bloodhounds among others returning for another round, Park Shin-hye's return is one worth celebrating. Her career hasn't skipped a beat even after having a child, and even as she's pregnant with her second child, Park is slated to return for her memorable role in 2027's return of The Judge from Hell.

Largely portraying the inhabiting demon Justitia in Bit-na's body, Park's performance had chaotic evil undertones at the offset, indifferent and arguably even sadistic, happy to torment unrepentant evildoers before dragging them to hell. This would gradually develop as her sense of humanity and compassion grows, especially with the help of Violent Crimes Unit 2 detective Han Da-on (Kim Jae-young), who doubles as Bit-na's love interest.

Adapting a killer manhwa with a strong blend of found-family warmth and thrilling action, this Netflix series is still a strong recommendation.

Bit-na's charm was greater than the already-fun badass unburdened by social norms; with Park's portrayal, her expressive eyes utterly dominated viewer focus. All that considered, the promise of a second season surely is an enticing mystery for returning fans.

Kang Bit-na's Story Continues In Season 2

Naturally, the somewhat ambiguous ending of The Judge from Hell made it work so that, if the series weren't renewed, it'd remain just as impactful as one of the greatest new legal K-dramas. Sent an offer from Lucifer via Bael that, if she sends another 10 evildoers to hell, just like her initial penance at the start of the series, Bit-na would be able to live as a human forever. She's given this choice by Bael, with him selfishly hoping she refuses, seeing her instead as his heir.

Of course, Bit-na now wrestles with the quandary of her new mission, a testament to her acquired humanity, as she confirms to Da-on that they can be together forever, if she kills 10 more people in her last year as a human. She acknowledges the only way this can happen is by letting other innocents get hurt or die first. She reckons with her sense of justice at this moment in The Judge from Hell's season 1 finale, with Da-on proudly seeing her moment of reflection, pledging his support for whichever choice she makes.

For the most part, viewers are left to interpret what choice she winds up making. Given The Judge from Hell has season 2 on the way, it's clear they'll get an answer one way or another, and as Bit-na's fury at unrepentant criminals is clear even in the finale, she has the motive to see Lucifer’s mission through.
