Hulu's returning crime show receives a rare Rotten Tomatoes score.
Over the past few years, and compared to other streaming platforms, Hulu has developed a reputation for true-crime dramas that are often elevated by a stellar leading performance and a distinct perspective. Amanda Seyfried's The Dropout, focusing on Elizabeth Holmes, is the standout example, but other buzzy attempts include Elle Fanning in The Girl from Plainville, as well as Lily Gladstone in 2024's miniseries Under the Bridge.
Hulu also has room for lighter crime series, like the returning Deli Boys season 2. The six-episode second installment premiered on May 28, and it currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with eight reviews. Though the score may fluctuate as more reviews are added, this is roughly in line with Deli Boys season 1 and its 96% score based on 24 reviews.
Created by Abdullah Saeed and debuting on Hulu in March 2025, Deli Boys focuses on two very different Pakistani-American brothers after the death of their father and how their lives go into a tailspin after they discover his criminal enterprise. The situation grows more complicated when their father's confidant, Lucky (Never Have I Ever star Poorna Jagannathan), makes a power play.
Jagannathan returns to the Deli Boys season 2 cast, as do Asif Ali and Saagar Shaikh as the two brothers who are in over their heads. They're joined by Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen in the role of Max Sugar, a gambling genius with a casino empire.
Andrew Rannells, Kumail Nanjiani, Lilly Singh, and Robin Thede are also among the new additions.
Angel Shaw praises the Hulu Original in ScreenRant's review of Deli Boys season 2, calling it a “crime comedy masterpiece” and noting that the narrative is strong in just six episodes. It's likewise noted that Ali, Shaikh, and Jagannathan make room for supporting actors, many of whom add to the hilarity.
This is echoed by Tania Hussain in Collider, who writes that the show manages to keep the momentum going all the way to the finale, even with fewer episodes and a few relatively underserved characters. The consensus seems to be that the crime comedy still holds onto its magic and makes for a satisfying Deli Boys season 2 ending despite the fact that the episode count drops from 10 to just six. But on the other hand, it makes for a quick and worthwhile binge.
All episodes of Deli Boys are on Hulu.
