Hugh Jackman’s record-breaking movie, Song Sung Blue, is singing its way to streaming very soon.

In the new biopic written and directed by Craig Brewer, Jackman and Kate Hudson portray a real-life Wisconsin couple, Mike and Claire Sardina, who became a famous duo for performing Neil Diamond's music, Lightning and Thunder. Ahead of its theatrical release in December 2025, the film, based on a 2008 documentary, quickly became a critical success, earning a solid 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

More importantly, the biopic set a record after winning audiences’ hearts, securing a near-perfect 97% Popcornmeter. That was enough to become the highest-rated Jackman movie with audiences after beating out Deadpool and Wolverine’s 94%.

After less than two months in theaters, Song Sung Blue is finally arriving on streaming on February 13, 2026, on Peacock. The release comes at the perfect time for two key reasons. Firstly, the date is closing in on Valentine’s Day weekend, making it a good viewing option for anyone wanting to watch a tearjerker love story.

Secondly, the streaming availability comes just a month before the Academy Awards, which is set to air on March 15 on ABC. It was previously announced that the DVD release was set for February 17, 2026, while it’s now available on video on demand.

Song Sung Blue received mostly positive reviews for depicting a tragic yet charming love story. Jackman and Hudson earned praise for their performance and chemistry, which even pushed for award consideration for the latter. ScreenRant’s Alex Harrison was among the many critics who appreciated the beautiful story, giving it a solid 7 out of 10 stars.

He agrees that the leading duo is the movie’s heart and soul, which is enough to overlook some of the flaws and get fully immersed by the charm: “It only takes a few minutes to be swept up by the music and the delightful chemistry of its stars, and the ride the movie takes you on from there is much better felt than studied.

Although Song Sung Blue wasn’t a huge award contender as the season began, momentum was building up for Hudson’s acting consideration for Best Actress. After securing nods at the Golden Globe Awards and Actor Awards (formerly Screen Actors Guild Awards), she was officially nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. This is her career-second Oscar nomination after earning a spot for Best Supporting Actress for Almost Famous 26 years ago.

Despite praise from critics and audiences alike, one key figure wasn't as pleased with the biopic. Michael Sardina Jr. was unhappy with how his father was portrayed in the movie, stating that the real Mike was likely "rolling in his grave right now." While speaking with the Daily Mail, he and his sister Angelina Sardina earned small payments for their consulting role on Song Sung Blue.

On the other hand, Jackman shared that the real Neil Diamond was "moved" by the biopic, recounting that "He rang me after seeing the movie with his wife, Katie, and he was crying."

The musical biopic earned more than $55 million globally against a budget of $30 million. Now, Song Sung Blue has a chance to find a new audience at home, making it a treat for those wanting something for Valentine’s Day and others who are ready to see the Oscar-nominated movie before the Academy Awards.
