Netflix has been amping up its live coverage in 2024, and to wrap up the year, the streaming service will air the two National Football League (NFL) Christmas Day games. From reality dating show reunions to the infamous Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight, Netflix has broadcast various live events. Now, the platform will add two NFL games to its roster. Both matchups are sure to bring in a lot of traffic, though, and hopefully, the streaming company will be more prepared for the massive influx of viewers than it was for the disastrous Netflix's Love Is Blind season 4 reunion.
In 2023, three NFL games were played on Christmas Day — Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs (the Raiders won 20–14), New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles (the Eagles won 25–33), and Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers (the Ravens won 33–19).
Almost every year, a handful of NFL teams play on Christmas Day. It's a tradition, but as mentioned above, it will be slightly different this year as most fans will have to access Netflix to watch the two football games. So, that might bar some from tuning in. However, millions of households will sign onto Netflix on Christmas Day to view the matchups. Since Netflix experienced broadcast issues and glitches during the Paul vs. Tyson fight, some might be (rightfully) worried about watching the games live without any technical problems as promised. Only time will tell if Netflix has learned from its past mistakes.

The first NFL game on Christmas Day will be between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They face off at 1PM ET on Netflix, but the pregame begins at 11AM ET. The pregame will consist of analysis from notable experts, former players, and award-winning hosts, including Kay Adams, Drew Brees, Robert Griffin III, Manti Te'o, Mina Kimes, Laura Rutledge, Devin McCourty, and Jason McCourty (per Tudum by Netflix). Two comedians — Bert Kreischer and Nate Bargatze — also make special appearances. Meanwhile, Mariah Carey gives a (pre-recorded) performance of "All I Want for Christmas Is You."

NFL's second Christmas Day game will be between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The matchup kicks off at 4:30PM ET on Netflix, while the pregame starts at 4PM ET. Before kickoff, Pentatonix (Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee) will sing the National Anthem. However, the Ravens vs. Texans game will get even more exciting at halftime. Beyoncé is set to perform songs from her most recent album Cowboy Carter and some others at the halftime show, and the talented singer is reportedly planning on bringing out special guests during the concert.
Both NFL Christmas Games Are Netflix Live Events
Although the two NFL Christmas Day games are going to be streaming on Netflix, the platform won't be the only place to find them. Certain local TV stations in Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Houston will air their respective games. NFL+ subscribers can also watch all the matchups on the app.

However, Netflix should be the easiest way for most to access the NFL games, especially for those living outside the United States. For those who can't watch live, each game will be available for only three hours after they end for United States subscribers (according to Netflix by Tudum). Meanwhile, the NFL Christmas Day matchups will expire 24 hours after ending for international Netflix subscribers.
