Games do not come much bigger than Liverpool vs Man United. This particular clash between the deadly rivals could have a huge bearing on both the title race and Ruben Amorim’s future.

The Reds go into this match having lost three consecutive games in all competitions, including their last two in the Premier League. It's a shocking decline in form, but the truth is that Arne Slot’s side weren’t playing great even before dropping these points. Mo Salah has been noticeably quiet, and they’ve relied heavily on last-gasp goals. That said, they are still second in the table and would enjoy nothing more than getting back to winning ways against Man United.

The Red Devils are in something of a mess, with plenty of speculation about their manager, too. A full pre-season does not seem to have helped Amorim implement his desired playing style, though he’s still sticking doggedly to his beloved 3-4-3 system. The club sits 10th in the table, having already lost three of their seven league matches. They cannot find any rhythm and look vulnerable at the back, regardless of who’s in goal. Maybe the international break has given them a chance to reset?
