If you have been spending any of your time in Dark and Darker, then you already know that yit is an unforgiving experience where you need to make the most of your abilities to succeed. One way to do so is to use and merge spells – here’s how it works.
How to use spells in Dark and Darker
If you have chosen to be a Cleric, a Sorcerer, or a Wizard, then the first thing you need to learn is how to use your spells. But before you do any of that, you need to equip the Spell Memory Skill, which will enable you to select and equip them. You can do so from the Perks & Skills menu from your class page.
There you will see two different spell slots, corresponding to each hand, where you can set your spells to use them. Each slot can be equipped with up to five different spells. Once you have made up your mind, simply drag and drop from the list to the slots.
Pressing the Memory Skill Spell button (which you should have set to Q or E on your keyboard), will make the spell wheel pop up, so you can select which oneyou would like to cast. Now, with a corresponding spell-casting weapon equipped (such as a staff or wizard sword), hold the right mouse button to charge the spell, and release it to cast it.
How to merge spells in Dark and Darker
As a Sorcerer, one of your personal skills is the ability to merge two spells, so you can create a more powerful one or something better suited to your current situation. For example, by combining Lightning Magic with Dash, you can cast an Electric Dash, or with Flame and Ice, you can cast a powerful Flamefrost Spear.
Once you have the Merge Spell perk unlocked, equip the two spells you would like to merge in the two different slots. Now, with your fists out, hold both mouse buttons, the left and right ones, so that you are charging both spells. Once fully charged, you should see an icon appear at the bottom of your screen. Now, go ahead and press R to charge up and cast the merged spell.
