How The Holiday's 'boob graze scene' between Jack Black and Kate Winslet was inspired by a real life awkward moment on set

The Holiday has cemented itself as a festive classic that Brits still sit down to watch every Christmas, almost two decades after it hit screens.

The beloved movie sees chronically unlucky in love Amanda (Cameron Diaz) plan a house swap and spend the holidays in a cute country cottage in the UK, which belongs to journalist Iris (Kate Winslet).

Surrey-based Iris ditches her picturesque English home for Amanda's LA mansion and both lovelorn women are swept off their feet with an exciting new romance when they meet Graham and Miles.

But what most fans don't know is that one hilarious scene in the movie was actually inspired by a real life moment on set.

Director and writer Nancy Meyers revealed that the slightly odd scene where Miles apologises to Iris for 'grazing her boob' as he reaches across in a sushi bar came after an awkward moment between Nancy and Jack Black.

The actor, 55, accidentally grazed Nancy's boob while filming and she found it so hilarious she spontaneously wrote it into the script the next day.

In the slightly odd scene, Miles apologises to Iris for 'grazing her boob' as he reaches across her in a sushi bar

She told ComingSoon: 'One day on the set he bumped into me and said, 'Oh, sorry about the boob graze,' and I just laughed so hard because men bump into women all the time like that and act like they didn't do it.

'But he immediately said sorry about the boob graze so I wrote it into the next scene he did.'

And it's not the only part that's reminiscent of reality - Nancy actually wrote the the parts of Iris and Amanda specifically for Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.

The revelation comes just after Jude Law sent the internet into meltdown as he hinted at a sequel to the beloved film.

Last week, the English actor, 51, reunited with director Nancy as she took him out to lunch to celebrate him being awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Filming the actor at the table, Nancy shared: 'Look who I'm having lunch with today -Jude Law! Congratulations on your so well deserved star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, that's amazing.

'I don't think I've seen you since we wrapped The Holiday speaking of which, I've seen you interviewed a lot and they keep asking you if there's going to be a sequel - what do you think?'

Letting out a loud sigh, Jude huffed and exclaimed: 'give me a second', before turning and placing his serviette and glasses on his head in the style of the film's Mr Napkin Head.

Kate Winslet and Jack Black starred in the hit. The actress played Iris who swapped homes with Amanda and began dating Miles (Jack)

When asked if a sequel was in the works Jude huffed and exclaimed: 'give me a second', before turning and placing his serviette and glasses on his head in the style of Mr Napkin Head

As Jude sat beneath the napkin, Nancy asked: 'is that a yes Jude?' while he shook his head around.

After Nancy shared the video on social media, fans went wild, claiming the pair had 'broken the internet' with the skit.

They commented: 'Just casually breaking the internet'; 'For the love of god, please give us a sequel we are dying without a new Nancy Meyers movie!!!';

'We desperately need you back in the director's chair making another movie.'; 'The way I gasped when you mentioned a squeal thinking it was an official announcement!! but Jude doing Mr Napkin Head made it all ok';

'The Holiday: Mr Napkin Head Strikes Again'; 'The pitter patter my heart just did'; 'please nancy we NEED you to direct again'; 'Whaaaat!!!!! What are you doing to us Nancy????? I'm dreaming and screaming over here!!!!'

'girl don't play with my feelings I've been watching this movie since I was 6'; 'The answer is YES.'; 'Oh my G. Who could handle this!?!?'; 'MAKE IT HAPPEN PLEASE'.

Jude previously revealed he'd be willing to reprise his role, announcing at New York City's Tribeca Festival in June: 'I love the idea.'

The original movie told the tale of Surrey-based journalist Iris (Kate) who swaps homes with Amanda (Cameron), a movie producer from Hollywood, following respective heartbreaks.

The fans couldn't believe it and rushed to the comment section to express their shock

While in Surrey, Amanda finds romance with Iris's book editor brother, widower Graham while Iris meets Miles (played by Jack) and dates him.

Graham is father to children Olivia and Sophie, played by Miffy Englefield and Emma Pritchard, as the girls also fall in love with Amanda as they accept her into their family.

Despite his on screen daughters being grown up now, Jude believes the plot could still be revisited as he added that he doesn't believe his character will have changed much.

'I think Graham still has cardigans and glasses, and reads,' he joked. 'He's probably worried sick about the girls, right? The daughters will be 28, 29.'
