How the Actor Awards Winners Make the Oscars Race Even Tighter

How Demi Moore, Michael B. Jordan and More Celebrated at the Actor Awards 2026 After-Parties

Awards season is off to the races, and the finish line is looking tighter than ever.

While the months leading up to the Academy Awards usually make clear the Oscar-winner front runners, the 2025-2026 season has been unusual in the variety of stars picking up trophies.

Take, for instance the supporting actor categories. Heading into the Actor Awards on March 1, there had been no two-time winner in the men’s and women’s categories across the Critics Choice Awards, the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs.

Among the nominees, Frankenstein’s Jacob Elordi and Weapons’ Amy Madigan won at the Critics Choice Awards, Sentimental Value’s Stellan Skarsgård and One Battle After Another’s Teyana Taylor took home the victories at the Golden Globes while at the BAFTAs, it was Teyana’s costar Sean Penn and SinnersWunmi Mosaku who were honored.

In addition to the above winners, rounding out the categories at the Academy Awards are OBAA’s Benicio Del Toro, SinnersDelroy Lindo as well as Sentimental Value’s Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.

And with such a competitive category, despite Sean and Amy now repeat-honors at Actor Awards, the future Oscar winners remain anybody’s guess.

Meanwhile, one of the other most-highly anticipated categories remain equally fierce. While Hamnet’s Jessie Buckley’s so-far sweep of lead actress makes her the strong frontrunner at the Oscars, the Actor Awards and BAFTAs both added a wrinkle to the category’s male counterpart.

Timothée Chalamet had a strong start to award season, winning at both the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes for his work as the titular Marty in Josh Safdie’s not-so-sportsy movie.

When the BAFTAs came around, however, Marty Supreme was shut out of the winners list, with Britain’s Robert Aramayo winning for I Swear

But while it isn’t entirely shocking the honor went to a home-grown actor at the UK’s biggest award show, when it came time for SAG-AGFTRA union members to vote on the best male lead performance, it was SinnersMichael B. Jordan who took to the stage for his portrayal of twin brothers Smoke and Stack.

And the category is stacked to begin with: Joining Timothée and Michael (for whom a win at the Oscars would mark both their first Academy Award) in the category are The Secret Agent’s Wagner Moura—a Golden Globe winner for his performance in the drama—One Battle After Another’s Leonardo DiCaprio and Blue Moon’s Ethan Hawke

So despite Timothée’s declaration at the 2025 Actor Awards—then still known as the SAG Awards—that he’s intentionally pursuing greatness, whether 2026 will be the year he finally ticks Oscars off his bucket list remains to be seen.

As for the Best Picture and Director categories?

While Sinners won for best ensemble at the Actor Awards (and broke the all-time record for a singular film with a whopping 16 Oscar nominations), so far Paul Thomas Anderson and One Battle After Another have made a clean sweep of the Critics Choice, Golden Globes and BAFTAs.

Nevertheless, this year’s Oscars—airing on ABC and Hulu March 15—are proving to be a can’t-miss event. In the meantime, read on for the complete list of winners at the Actor Awards.
