Home Alone actor Daniel Stern has been cleared of a misdemeanor prostitution solicitation charge. The case against Stern was dismissed Friday in Ventura, CA, according to online court records.
Stern was issued a citation but not arrested on December 10, 2025 following a police sting operation at a Camarillo hotel. He was charged last month with a single misdemeanor charge of engaging or agreeing to engage in prostitution. If convicted he could have faced up to six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
“The defendant did what he was supposed to do,” a representative for the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office told TMZ. “He completed his education class and earned a dismissal. This is our standard disposition for first-time prostitution offenses.”
Stern had been cast as a series regular in the ABC pilot Do You Want Kids? but exited the project shortly after he was charged and the role recast.
Starring Rachel Bloom and Rory Scovel, the single-camera Do You Want Kids? is about a married couple, Rosie (Bloom) and Alex Zilbalodis (Scovel), who in one universe have a baby and in the other do not, and the many ways that huge decision alters their lives.
The role Stern was to play is Freddy, the gruff patriarch of the Zilbalodis family.
We’ve reached out to Stern’s reps for comment.
Stern, who portrayed the role of Marv in the holiday classic Home Alone and its sequels, also is known for his work in City Slickers. He recently was a series regular on Seasons 4 and 5 of Apple TV’s sci-fi drama For All Mankind.
