It's been two years since achingly cool British phone maker Nothing unveiled its last flagship phone, the Nothing Phone 2. Good news, then, for those who've been waiting on a update, because a sequel is incoming.
CEO Carl Pei has made no secret of the fact that the Nothing Phone 2's successor, the Nothing Phone 3, is set to for a summer 2025 launch. But other details have been scarce -- until now.
Speaking during The Android Show hosted by Google on Tuesday, Pei revealed that the phone will cost around £800 (or $1,000) when it goes on sale later this year. That's more than the current model, which currently retails for $715 on Amazon, but given the fact that the Nothing Phone 2 is two years old and the cost of everything, including phones, has shot up dramatically in recent times, a higher price tag is to be expected.
Nothing has also led us to believe we can expect great things from this new phone. Pei referred to the Nothing Phone 3 as the company's "first true flagship," with "premium materials, major performance upgrades and software that levels things up." We're excited to get our hands on the device and see for ourselves where the biggest improvements are.
As a tech company, Nothing got its start in audio via its Ear buds rather than phones, and that's not a category the company plans to abandon anytime soon. Also on Tuesday, Nothing announced a partnership with audio company KEF.
This partnership "will support Nothing's expansion into new audio categories -- with several acoustically co-developed products already in the works and launching later this year," according to a Nothing spokesperson.
We can't say for sure exactly what the company has up its sleeves right now in terms of new audio devices, but it looks to be busier than ever. What will it have to show us this summer? Definitely not nothing.
