Hogwarts Legacy is arguably the best game tied to the Harry Potter franchise that we have ever seen, bringing an entirely original story while at the same time giving long-time fans recognizable features and locations to explore. It was also hugely successful for the developer, with the game still holding its position as the third-most played single-player game on the PlayStation 5.
As such, a sequel was ordered and it's now in production, with that game set to tie the narrative directly to the upcoming HBO series, which could prove to be a divisive choice among those who loved the original release. Until then, we have to sit tight and hope for the best, but the first game still has plenty to offer, particularly thanks to a dedicated community who just can't stop themselves from making it even better.
Avalanche StudiosOver on Reddit, fans have been going pretty wild for the arrival of an RP mode that's been made available for download by modding wizards. Known as Wizarding Academy RP, it allows players to jump into a Hogwarts populated by a ton of other real players, going to classes and interacting with those who also want to learn their magical craft.
It sounds like fun, if you're into that kind of thing, and there are posts and comments all over the place from players who are delighted at what they have seen so far.
"Thanks for letting us know! This looks incredible and I would not have heard of it otherwise! Appreciated!" one comment read under a post sharing the mod's existence.
"Dang! First time I’ve ever wanted to own a gaming PC!" another added.
To get it running and get in on the action, you'll need to download the Wizarding Academy RP framework from a site like Curse Forge. From there, you'll also want to get the customized HogWarp launcher, which essentially functions as a curated collection to get everyone on the same page for multiplayer, just so there are no compatibility issues.
It's currently popping off in terms of player numbers, so this may well be the best chance you've got to have a great time with it, before they inevitably dwindle at some point.
Given that those in charge of the franchise want the next Hogwarts Legacy game to tie to the upcoming HBO series, it's a fairly safe bet that we'll get the next game in relatively short order, particularly when compared to the bizarrely long development cycles AAA games seem to so often have these days. Let's just hope that it picks up where the last one left off in terms of quality, and that the developer has been listening to the list of fan wants since.
