With a Hogwarts Legacy sequel expected to launch in 2027 to correspond with the release of HBO's Harry Potter, a recent leak may just hint at how interconnected the two projects will actually be, as well as increasing the hype for the highly anticipated sequel.
Despite the Harry Potter movie series coming to an end way back in 2011, it seems as though the fantasy world created by J.K. Rowling is still going from strength to strength thanks to the arrival of Hogwarts Legacy and the subsequent announcement of a remake in the form of an HBO live-action television show.
Now with a Hogwarts Legacy sequel in the works courtesy of Avalanche Software, a recent leak gives us our first look at a home away from home.
Hogwarts Legacy Fans Are Hyped For The New Potter Series
Following the news that the story of Hogwarts Legacy, which is set 100 years prior to the events of the main Harry Potter series, and HBO's Harry Potter will be interconnected in some way, fans of the Warner Bros. Games title are excited to see how it plays out on the big screen with the arrival of the Potter series in 2027.
Although the HBO series will be a remake of the original movie series, its creators have detailed their plans to combine the two, meaning that Hogwarts Legacy 2 may have more links to the television show than we first thought, especially with the two expected to be released around the same time in 2027.
There are many details synonymous with the Harry Potter series, such as Harry himself, his fellow students, magic and more, but perhaps the most recognizable creation is none other than Hogwarts itself. Now, thanks to a recent leak, we may have just got a glimpse at one way the video game and television show will be linked.
The Hogwarts Legacy Castle Looks To Be The Blueprint
Recently shared over on r/HarryPotterGame, leaks from the HBO Harry Potter series show that Hogwarts is being built from the ground up but most importantly, it shows that the show's version of the castle may take its inspiration from Hogwarts Legacy rather than the original movie series.
As pointed out by the original poster, "Looks like from just these two photos alone, it is a good bet that the Hogwarts Legacy version of the castle will be the model used for the HBO Series. This first photo looks like the Quad, and the second photo features a Greenhouse very similar to the designs in the game."
It makes sense that the game version of Hogwarts is a lot different to the one we see on the big screen, as players are expected to maneuver around its halls without having to deal with a confusing layout. Of course, the upcoming show could use camera magic to overcome this, but it is exciting to see that it has taken its inspiration from a Hogwarts that its video game fans will recognize.
As such, fans took to the comments to share their thoughts with hippogriffjuliet adding, "I honestly find Hogwarts Legacy's Hogwarts to be my favorite out of all the iterations I’ve seen or even been able to explore in game form," to which another user replied, "Same if only because it's consistent and makes sense. I get it's a magic castle, but the movies changed it between films, and it just doesn't really make too much sense in its apparent layout."
It won't be until 2027 that we get to see this iteration of Hogwarts, but with both the HBO television show and Hogwarts Legacy 2 expected to drop in succession, it is set to be another major year for Harry Potter fans.
