Despite marketing itself as an open-world RPG, there are many areas within Hogwarts Legacy that are not accessible to players, despite existing in canon. Of course, these areas could be part of the upcoming sequel, but with fans complaining of the lack of post-game updates for the Harry Potter-inspired RPG, Avalanche Software had ample opportunity to open up the grounds of Hogwarts following the game's launch back in 2023.
With many predicting that the Hogwarts Legacy sequel could launch as early as 2027 to coincide with the launch of the upcoming HBO Harry Potter television show, it may not be long until we see what is new for fans of the open-world RPG. For now, however, there is something else to look forward to courtesy of one creative fan.
The Chamber of Secrets is a free-to-download mod for Hogwarts Legacy and yes, you guessed it, it adds a brand-new dungeon to the game inspired by the events of the second book and movie. Created by maxshig_dev, the mod offers a dark, story-focused dungeon that "sends players deep below the castle to uncover a place built not just to hide a monster, but to imprison, test, and destroy."
As such, players will be expected to fight through ancient sewers, battle creatures along the way, and explore abandoned Slytherin sanctums in order to piece together the truth of the darkness that lurks beneath Hogwarts.
"With custom environments, atmospheric exploration, environmental storytelling, and intense encounters, this mod reimagines the Chamber as something far larger and far more terrifying than legend ever told. Some secrets were buried for a reason," the mod description reads.
To begin the quest, players must head to the Wizard's bathroom, but this is only available after completing the "In The Shadow of the Study" quest. That being said, the mod description offers a way to completely bypass this mission. Once at the bathroom, simply interact with the quest marker on a nearby sink, and you will gain access to the Chamber of Secrets.
Despite being uploaded to CurseForge just one day ago, The Chamber of Secrets mod has already racked up over 200 downloads, proving that fans of Hogwarts Legacy are still eager for new and exciting content for the hit RPG. It may not be an official download, but it is definitely the next best thing, and gives us some insight into Avalanche Software may be working on behind the scenes as it is no doubt that this is what fans want.
