Geoff Keighley got really emotional for some reason before using an orchestra to reveal that an Okami sequel is on its way. (Hopefully) tentatively titled Okami Sequel, it will be helmed by Hideki Kamiya. That’s all we know.
It’s still an interesting announcement, since Kamiya left Capcom in 2006 with the closure of Clover Studios. In fact, Keighley did mention Clover, so I don’t know what that means.
We last saw Okami with 2010’s Okamiden, which released on DS after the closure of Clover. The original game is rather celebrated and continues to see re-releases, so it getting a sequel is a little less surprising than Kamiya working with Capcom again. Regardless, we don’t know anything about it. It’s barely a teaser. We didn’t even get a name, and showing it as “Okami Sequel” is super awkward. But there you have it.
Okami Sequel has announced targeted platforms or release date.
