What Weaver been waiting for.
On Alien: Isolation's 10th anniversary a couple of years ago, director Al Hope shared some exciting news: a very long-awaited sequel was finally in development. Beyond that, we learned little else. Earlier this year, however, we got our first teaser trailer, and today, during Summer Game Fest's big showcase extravaganza, we've had our best look yet at Alien: Isolation 2.
Which isn't to say we've now seen a lot. It's perhaps best to consider this fresh showing as a sort of extended teaser than anything else, given the scant specifics included within. Playing out over the top of some moody landscapes - alongside some shadowy retro-tinged sci-fi interiors - we hear a voice threatening an unknown character with their "last chance".
Luckily, developer Creative Assembly was on hand with a few more teases, including the news that Alien Isolation 2 sees the Xenomorph threatening the unsuspecting inhabitants of a colony world - with the action playing out both within the claustrophibic confines of the colony itself and the harsh landscape around it. Expect a "desperate struggle to survive and escape", with more details coming in the "future".
If this new trailer has whetted your appetite for some space-based-thrills, be sure to check out Graeme Mason's feature 10 Years of Alien: Isolation: how Creative Assembly made an all-time horror classic, where he talks to a number of the game's developers (including Hope) about making the iconic survival horror game all those years ago.
