Astronomers Detect Possible Sign of Life on a Planet 120 Light-Years Away
There’s a celestial connection on the horizon.
Six planets—Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, and Venus—are set to appear in the sky in what’s known as a planet parade on Feb. 28. And since this is a unique phenomenon, stargazers will need to dust off their binoculars to see some of it in person.
According to NASA, viewers will have to use “optical assistance” to see Uranus and Neptune because they’re the furthest planets in the solar system. However, the other four planets (especially Venus, since it’s the brightest of them all) will be visible to the naked eye. To make this occasion even more special, the space organization also noted a near-full moon will appear in the sky at the same time.
Though the latter cosmic will be easier to see, it’s still important to make sure your view is clear to get a full look at the parade.
As for where watchers should look in the night sky? If you’re only interested in seeing Venus, Mercury and Saturn, look towards the west right after sunset. To catch Jupiter, which is set to be near Saturn and Uranus, follow the alignment east.
While NASA reports the planets will be closest together on Feb. 28, these cosmic parades aren’t scheduled to last for just one night. In fact, these sightings can go “for weeks to a month or more,” since they “move too slowly” in the sky.
“Even five-planet events last for several days as Mercury briefly emerges from and returns to the Sun’s glare,” the organization explained. “While they aren’t once-in-a-lifetime events, planetary parades afford an uncommon opportunity to look up and appreciate our place in our solar system.”

Indeed, the parades have shined in the sky over the years, including bumping up to a seven-planet alignment last February. At the time, Mars joined the club in the eastern part of the sky after sunset. While a historic moment, astrologer Aliza Kelly explained this lineup—or any planetary parades, for that matter—will not have a massive impact on your astrological chart.
“It isn’t taking place astrologically, as in, these planets will not be in the same zodiac signs during that time,” she told E! News that year. “However, what we witness from Earth is incredibly meaningful and magical.”
Though this phenomenon won’t send astrological charts into chaos, keep reading to see what Aliza had to see about each sign’s journey this year...
