“Heated Rivalry,” “Stranger Things” and “Traitors” were among the big winners at the GLAAD Media Awards Thursday night in Los Angeles.
“Heated Rivalry,” the hit HBO Max/Crave series created by Jacob Tierney that follows the love story of two professional hockey players (Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams), was named outstanding new TV series while “Stranger Things” picked up outstanding drama series for its fifth and final season. “Traitors” won outstanding reality competition program and Bravo’s “Southern Hospitality” received outstanding reality program.
On the film front, “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” Bill Condon’s adaptation of the Broadway musical starring Jennifer Lopez, Tonatiuh and Diego Luna, earned the outstanding wide theatrical release honor. Indie rom-com “Nice Indian Boy” starring Karan Soni and Jonathan Groff and drama “Plainclothes” with Tom Blyth and Russell Tovey tied for limited theatrical release.
Hosted by Jonathan Bennett at the Beverly Hilton, the 37th annual GLAAD Media Awards also handed out special honors to Quinta Brunson (Vanguard Award) and “Las Culturistas” co-hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers (Stephen F. Kolzak Award).
The evening also included performances by Demi Lovato and Sony Music Group artist Eli.
