Netflix‘s Sam Bankman-Fried limited series, The Altruists, has added six actors to its cast: Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry) as Duncan Rheingans‑Yoo, Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing) as Sarah Fisher Ellison, Terry Chen (Almost Famous) as CZ, Elizabeth Adams (Wayward) as Hannah, Hannah Galway (The Institute) as Lucy, and William Mapother (Lost) as Dr. Lerner.
The Altruists tells the story of Sam Bankman-Fried (Anthony Boyle) and Caroline Ellison (Julia Garner), two hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists who tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye – before they were accused of stealing $8 billion and became Gen Z’s own Bonnie & Clyde.
The cast also includes series regulars: Eugene Young as Gary Wang, Madison Hu as Constance Wang, Karan Soni as Nishad Singh, Matt Rife as Ryan Salame, Alex Lawther as Sam Trabucco, and Naomi Okada as Claire Watanabe. The recurring cast includes: Maddie Hasson as Lauren Platt, Marianna Phung as Lily Zhang, Paul Reiser as Joe Bankman, and Robin Weigert as Barbara Fried.
The 8-episode limited series will be co-showrun and executive produced by Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt. James Ponsoldt directed the first episode and executive produces. Additional EPs include Jessie Dicovitsky and Vinnie Malhotra for Higher Ground Productions, Scoop Wasserstein for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, Tonia Davis, Lauren Morelli, and Julia Garner.
