HBO's 3-Part Thriller Series That Keeps Getting Bigger Has One Of Its Best Casts

1 week ago 21

HBO continues to be home to some of the best and biggest TV shows, and one of its biggest hits in recent years has one of the best casts. Over the years, HBO has become synonymous with high-quality TV across different genres. Many of HBO’s productions now rank among the best TV shows of all time, such as The Sopranos, Chernobyl, The Wire, and Game of Thrones. HBO is associated with big-budget productions, stellar writing, and impeccable performances, with many of its shows being greatly influential.

Although Euphoria has also received a lot of criticism for some of those topics, and its sexual content and nudity (which many have found excessive), mostly due to the ages of the characters, the show has been a success. Euphoria is currently in its third season, and even though it hasn’t had the same impact as the first two seasons, the show keeps getting bigger, and it has one of the best casts in recent HBO history.

Euphoria Has One Of The Best Casts Of The Last Decade

Set in California, Euphoria follows a group of chaotic high-schoolers in the fictional town of East Highland. Although they all have their own struggles and trauma, the stories of the characters intertwine and make way for even bigger problems. Leading the show is Rue (Zendaya), who struggles with her mental health and substance-use disorder, often relapsing and getting involved with the worst people.

Accompanying Rue are Jules (Hunter Schafer), a transgender girl and Rue’s on-and-off girlfriend; Lexi (Maude Apatow), Rue’s best friend; and Fezco (Angus Cloud), a drug dealer and close friend of Rue. Also leading Euphoria are Nate (Jacob Elordi), a popular high school athlete; Maddy (Alexa Demie), a popular cheerleader in a toxic relationship with Nate; and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), Lexi’s sister and Maddy’s best friend.

Rounding up the cast of Euphoria are Eric Dane, Colman Domingo, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, among many others. While some cast members like Zendaya were already known before starring in Euphoria, the show launched the careers of many others, most notably Elordi, Sweeney, and Schafer. As their careers have grown outside Euphoria, their presence on the show has made it even more notable, more popular, and given it more value.

Despite Its Season 3 Decline, Euphoria Only Keeps Getting Bigger

From the beginning, Euphoria hasn’t been afraid of being explicit, controversial, and covering mature topics. However, these were justified by the stories of the characters, which had a much clearer direction and better development than they have had in the third season so far. Euphoria season 3 hasn’t had the same success as the previous seasons, with many viewers feeling that the four-year wait between seasons wasn’t worth it.

Euphoria season 3 has a time jump of five years, and the lives of the main characters have changed a lot since then. Rue is in deep debt with a drug dealer, and Cassie and Nate get married, but Nate has some secrets that directly impact their relationship, while Cassie enters the world of OnlyFans. Meanwhile, Maddy moves to Hollywood and Jules attends art school. Despite Euphoria season 3 being messy and not at the level of the past seasons, the show keeps getting bigger.

Euphoria’s impact is no longer attached to its quality but to the conversation around it. Many of the current storylines, mostly that of Cassie, have been generating a lot of conversation on social media right after a new episode drops and for days after. Euphoria has gone through a dramatic drop in quality, but its impact has only increased, and it will continue to increase as it gets closer to its season finale.
