Batman will return soon to the small screen, as one of the Dark Knight's TV series is coming back for more episodes next month. Batman is DC's most popular hero, leading to several Batman adaptations throughout the years. Those have come in many forms, with Batman's live-action movies definitely being the ones to make the biggest splashes.

However, Batman's animated series have redesigned key characters, introduced beloved players like Harley Quinn, and even defined the Dark Knight for a whole new generation with the seminal Batman: The Animated Series. It is through that medium that Gotham City's protector returns next month, though the upcoming DC release is not focused on the Dark Knight, even though he plays a role in it.

Batwheels season 3B will officially premiere on HBO Max on February 6. The animated series focuses on the Bat-Family's vehicles, which are brought to life by the Batcomputer. The Batmobile is the leader of the Batwheels team of superhero vehicles. Batwheels premiered on September 17, 2022. The first batch of episodes from the third season recently dropped on December 5, 2025.

Batwheels was renewed for season 3 in October 2024, with that season premiering a little over a year later. If that same stance rings true for the future of the show, confirmation that the Batman animated series could return for season 4 should only be expected by the end of the year. That said, Dark Knight fans have more to look forward to in 2026.

Batwheels is not the only Batman TV show to drop this year, with another animated series on the way for Bruce Wayne fans. Batman: Caped Crusader season 2 is expected to release at some point in 2026. Season 1 was released in 2024, exploring a Batman earlier in his career, with the hero still making mistakes.

Three Batman movies and TV shows are set to be released in 2026, and one of them emerges as the most exciting Dark Knight project for a simple reason.

Batman: Caped Crusader does not feature a full-on Bat-Family like Batwheels. The former also hails from executive producers Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series), J. J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Matt Reeves (The Batman), and Ed Brubaker (DC Comics' Batman). Batwheels was created by Michael G. Stern, who had previously written an episode of the animated series Beware the Batman.

Batwheels is one of the many Batman spinoff series where the Dark Knight is involved in some form, but is not the main star. Other projects with a similar setup include the live-action prequel series Gotham, which featured Bruce Wayne from a child to becoming Batman in the series finale, and Pennyworth, which saw Martha Kane get pregnant with Bruce. Batwheels continues that practice.
