It is an exciting time for Harry Potter fans as, despite the original book celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and the movies wrapping up back in 2011, the franchise is more alive than ever. Thanks to the recent success of Harry Potter-inspired RPG Hogwarts Legacy, as well as news of its impending sequel, fans can also look forward to a brand-new television reboot courtesy of HBO.

However, there is no denying the magic of the original movie series, especially as many of us grew up alongside Harry, Hermione, and Ron. As such, the chance to be able to experience a Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone prequel is bound to perk up some ears.

Over the years, the Harry Potter franchise has gone on to inspire some hit video games and thanks to the success of Hogwarts Legacy back in 2023, it is no wonder that fans are looking for new ways to experience the series in all its magical glory.

Well, thanks to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, that is now possible. Released back in 2018 for Android and iOS, this action RPG set in the Wizarding World follows the story of your customized student arriving at Hogwarts for the first time. Not only that, but its events take place before we meet our Golden Trio in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, allowing us some insight into the world before the events of the movie and books.

Despite being released back in 2018, developer Jam City has been releasing regular updates and content for Hogwarts Mystery, and this month is no exception. As part of its annual Summer of Mystery event, the story will focus on Harry's very first year at the school. To help celebrate, players can embark on the School of Witchcraft & Wizardry Mini Hogwarts Diary Event, as well as a brand-new scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will allow players to stumble across a brand-new freebie each day, and to make things even more exciting, you can find daily clues on social media.

That being said, the Summer of Mystery event for Hogwarts Mystery is not the only update to look forward to this month, as July is full to the brim with brand-new content to get stuck into. On 8 July, a 3-Week Community Challenge will begin tasking players with earning as many points as possible for their respective Houses. Then, on 29 July, the Norbert's Transport Beyond Special Preview will go live, and it seems as though that is not all for Jam City as they promise plenty of more content and events throughout.

Whilst details on these upcoming events remain scarce, we have received three clues. The first will "challenge the boundaries between the Wizarding and Muggle worlds," whilst the second will see players "helping a beloved Hogwarts professor prepare for a new school year." Last but not least, a third event will feature "embarking on a thrilling dragon-filled journey."

What these clues mean remains a mystery, but one thing is for sure: they sound pretty damn exciting. So, if you are eager to dive back into the magical world of Harry Potter whilst you wait for the launch of the Hogwarts Legacy sequel, make sure to check out Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery now.
