While her temporary missing earring might have stolen the show, Gwyneth’s attendance at the award ceremony was a highlight in and of itself. After all, the Goop founder’s role in Marty Supreme came as a surprise following her temporary hiatus from acting. 

And even Gwyneth—who shares Apple, 21, Moses, 19, with ex Chris Martin, as well as being stepmom to husband Brad Falchuk’s kids Isabella, 21, and Brody, 19, whom he shares with ex Suzanne Bukinik—was surprised by her return to Hollywood.

“If I’m being completely honest, it’s not that the acting bug had bit,” Gwyneth admitted during a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter published in December 2025. “My children, all four of them, had left.”

But while being an empty nester contributed to her itch to do something, it was the Josh Safdie movie specifically that got her to go back in front of the camera.

“I knew this would be worthwhile,” she mused in her Variety and CNN Actors on Actors conversation in December 2025. “This felt like the movies we used to make in the ‘90s.”
