EXCLUSIVE: It’s not easy being the adopted daughter of a mob kingpin.

Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen is set in the world of such criminals and their sometimes-non-criminal family members, revolving specifically around the exploits of the aristocratic Eddie (Theo James) as he breaks bad with assistance from mob boss Susie (Kaya Scoldelario), who runs her father’s underworld enterprises while he’s in prison. Having introduced its very Ritchie-esque gaggle of crime figures in season 1, The Gentlemen season 2 expands the roster to include several new players, including the elaborately-named Countess Isabella "Bella" Soranza de Parme, played by Benedetta Porcaroli.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns, Porcaroli discussed the character of Bella, the adopted daughter of newly-introduced crime boss Marco Moretti (Sergio Castellitto), laughingly describing the Countess as being stuck in “an unhappy relationship with weird men.” But despite the madness around her, Bella “tries to say human” while remaining uninvolved in her father’s criminal activities.

What I found on the paper, she can feel compassion, she has a big heart,” Porcaroli says of The Gentlemen season 2’s intriguing new character. “I would say we find out in the story that she had to go through many different tragedies in her life. She’s the stepdaughter of this big criminal, so she knows the world. But she tries to stay human, and not be involved too much in that sense.” It’s not all survival in the company of weird, law-breaking men for Bella however, as Porcaroli teases a romantic attachment for the character. “And she will fall in love, because I think when the people know suffering, know the feelings, the deeper feelings, they’re always able to love. So in that sense, she’s a lovable creature.”

Particularly fraught is Bella’s relationship with Scodelerio’s Susie, a woman who, unlike the Countess, ran toward the criminal life offered by her father, not away from it. “She’s a strong person, and she tries to deal with the whole situation, the relationship with Susan,” Porcaroli explained. “She cares about Susan’s opinion about her, so she tries to be liked by her, and at the same time, she is afraid of her, because she’s such an even stronger personality.”

Porcaroli enjoyed joining the Gentlemen ensemble for season 2, even though the show’s expansive cast means her own screen time was limited. “It was very interesting for me to be a part of this. In a series, every scene you have to tell many many things, because you don’t have that much space to tell the whole story, but it was interesting for this reason, actually.”

The Gentlemen season 2 is off to a strong start on Netflix, ranking as the #3 show on the streamer as of September 4, 2026, with all eight episodes available.
