After joining Screen Rant in January 2025, Guy became a Senior Features Writer in March of the same year, and now specializes in features about classic TV shows. With several years' experience writing for and editing TV, film and music publications, his areas of expertise include a wide range of genres, from comedies, animated series, and crime dramas, to Westerns and political thrillers.
The second season of Guy Ritchie’s biggest gangster TV series is dropping later in 2026, with an even better cast than the one we saw in the show’s debut season. Tom Hardy is returning in its lead role, regardless of reports suggesting that this year could be his last involvement in the project.
In any case, Paramount+’s London-based crime drama MobLand boasts a wide array of major stars and seasoned performers beyond its main man, and the show’s cast list is only getting longer and more illustrious for its return. There will be at least two new characters in MobLand season 2, both of whom are set to become series regulars.
Although the details about these characters remain a closely guarded secret, we do already know the actors playing them, which gives us even more cause for excitement about this upcoming second season. After the explosive ending to MobLand season 1, some fresh faces among the gangsters Harry Da Souza has to reckon with will be very welcome.
MobLand Has Improved Its Cast Ahead Of Season 2
Johnny Flynn and Ophelia Lovibond are the additions that have improved the cast of MobLand ahead of its season 2 release. Both actors bring with them a level of pedigree that will provide the perfect complement for the likes of Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Joanne Froggatt.
Lovibond recently starred in the British political dramas This England and Partygate, but she also has form in the crime genre. Her screen credits include William Monahan’s 2010 gangster movie London Boulevard, as well as the heist thriller 4.3.2.1. from the same year. Both these feature films are about the British capital’s criminal underworld, just like MobLand.

Still, most viewers will know her best as Carina in the Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy. On the other hand, Johnny Flynn has developed himself into something of a crime genre specialist, with a particular penchant for gangster dramas.
Season 2 Newcomer Johnny Flynn Is A Gangster Drama Specialist
While Flynn’s most famous role will soon be playing Lucius Malfoy in HBO’s Harry Potter TV show, for now his standout career performance has been on the big screen, in Graham Moore’s acclaimed mafia thriller The Outfit. His turn as a Chicago mobster in this 2022 movie unquestionably earned him his place in MobLand’s cast.
A year earlier, he starred in Malachi Smyth’s mob musical The Score, too, alongside Will Poulter and Naomi Ackie. Flynn may have garnered more attention for playing a young Albert Einstein in National Geographic’s Genius back in 2017, but the trajectory of his career is heading firmly in the direction of more gangster dramas.

His casting in MobLand suggests that he’s turned into something of a genre specialist. Indeed, his résumé suggests he’s going to be near the top of the cast list for Guy Ritchie’s returning TV show, mixing it up with some of Hollywood’s biggest names.
MobLand Already Had A Great Cast Beyond Tom Hardy
It’s worth pointing out that Johnny Flynn and Ophelia Lovibond will have their work cut out making themselves noticed in an ensemble cast that includes Paddy Considine, Geoff Bell, Mandeep Dhillon, Janet McTeer, and many more, in addition to Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. We’ve already seen early photos of Brosnan and Mirren’s return in MobLand season 2.
If the uncertainty around Hardy’s future in the show beyond this upcoming season is making the headlines, it’s far from the only thing that’s getting fans talking about what’s next for the series. Regardless of whether he makes season 3, we still have several new episodes of Harry Da Souza’s gangster saga with the Harrigan family to look forward to.
Flynn and Lovibond will undoubtedly bring something fresh to MobLand, too. Most likely we’re going to see them in the guise of yet more underworld rivals for Harry to contend with.
