Gundam really is one of the most enduring media franchises in history, only increasing in popularity with each passing year, ever since debuting all the way back in 1979. Since that first animated release, we have seen thousands of physical products hit shelves, as well as adaptations to just about every medium under the sun.

The most recent revelation was the announcement of new action game Gundam Rogue Orbit, with that scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Now, another release date has been confirmed, and it could end up being one of the most exciting new arrivals for a long time.

Over on the Asmodee website, you should be able to see the product page for Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 01, the premium version of the upcoming tabletop release priced at £99.99/$99.99. Essentially functioning as a miniature battle game, the game incorporates 50mm Gunpla into traditional tabletop combat.

In sharing some major points about the product, manufacturer Bandai shared a brief description so fans know what to expect:

  • From story-driven scenario battles to epic 5-vs-5 engagements with battleship-class units, this set offers an even more strategic and immersive experience.
  • Each unit features game stats and abilities that reflect its unique characteristics. Recreate scenarios inspired by the original story or engage in original cross-universe situations, allowing you to relive iconic moments or create your own unique battles.
  • Includes thirteen unpainted miniatures. Customize them with your own paint scheme to take the field with a one-of-a-kind unit that’s truly yours.

The set also takes advantage of tiered landscapes that allow players more options for strategically placing troops to gain an advantage. The miniatures themselves also look highly detailed, and the fact that they come unpainted means it's probably as close as we'll ever get to an official Gundam/Warhammer collaboration.

Gundam Assemble Deluxe Set 01 is currently available for pre-order, with an expected release date of October 24. At the same time, four expansion packs will be made available to players who really like what they say, giving you a lot more in the way of troop options and ways to play.

That should give you plenty of Gundam-related goodness to get on with while we all await the release of Gundam Rogue Orbit, which at this very early stage, looks like it has the potential to be the best game in the history of the franchise.
