If GTA 6 doesn't suffer any more delays, we can expect to see it towards the end of the year in November. But that is still a long time away. Well, perhaps we can content ourselves with a free anime-style GTA game between now and then. Maybe it'll even be so good, that we won't even want to play Grand Theft Auto VI at launch. Okay, that's a stretch, but Neverness to Everness might just surprise us all.

With pre-registrations for PS5 having just opened, we've learned from the developers' X account that Neverness to Everness is coming to PlayStation 5 on April 29, 2026. NTE is also coming to PC and mobile, although for now, it would seem for console users that PS5 is the only platform you can play it on. An exclusive PS5 free-to-play, GTA-inspired open world RPG... sign me up!

Who Needs GTA 6?

Anime GTA For Free

NTE Title Official Press Kit

So look, it's unlikely that Neverness to Everness will steal Rockstar's crown for open world gaming, but it does look quite impressive. Gacha games have gotten a bad wrap lately and if NTE is handled as well as more recent free-to-play games like Genshin Impact, Infinity Nikki or Where The Winds Meet, this could be an absolute banger! The trailer above is impressive and the variety of locations and visual flair alone are jaw-dropping.

Combat in particular looks sharp with an emphasis on melee attacks and dodge mechanics. But most of all, screeching around the map on four wheels looks like so much fun. From gorgeous countryside filled with cherry blossom trees to the hustle of the city with glass skyscrapers towering overhead, the map looks to have plenty to see and do in it as you play as multiple anime characters with different skills and combat styles.

Neverness To Everness Is A PlayStation 5 Exclusive

No Mention Of Xbox At Launch

With the PS5 being the only official console mentioned at launch, it would seem, at least for now, that Xbox users will have to content themselves with playing NTE on their phones. A shame as running around the city of Hethereau and hunting down anomalies looks like something that should be enjoyed on a big TV screen. With options to have pets, buy clothes, customize your car and even buy properties, this open world RPG is certainly promising a lot.

There are plenty of open world RPGs you can try for free, but Neverness to Everness is shaping up to be something quite special. Blending the natural and supernatural worlds together in an action RPG with heavy focus on melee combat and driving. It looks like Genshin Impact, Control and Grand Theft Auto VI all got together for a party, and it might just be the fix we need while we wait for GTA's release date to come around. Neverness to Everness launches on PS5 on April 29, 2026.
