GTA 6's Incredible Beach Leak Just Proved Rockstar's Doubters Wrong In Under Two Minutes

Some GTA 6 fans have spent years doubting that Rockstar could really ship a game that matched the trailers

A look at NPCs in GTA 6's beaches, many of whom are partying in boats.

When Rockstar first revealed Grand Theft Auto 6's beach scenes in 2023, fans were impressed — but they also doubted whether the developer could truly pull it off. The initial trailers showed a tremendous density of non-playable characters. Yet impressive scenes like those in the GTA 6 trailers had already misled some Rockstar fans before with the release of Grand Theft Auto 5. These fears seemed to be confirmed as Rockstar released more GTA 6 screenshots of the beach area that appeared to be empty. Now, after the latest set of leaks by hackers, fans are in total shock.

What is the GTA 6 beach leak?

The newest leak, which was published on the morning of Aug. 25, shows game co-protagonist Jason biking along a beach in GTA 6. In just under two minutes, we can see Jason leaving tracks in the sand, killing a seagull, and gawking at tourists. There are no children on the scene, and few people are truly swimming. Still, it's an astonishing sight. As the sunset draws its pastel curtain across the sky, dozens upon dozens of NPCs are sunbathing, chatting, and ignoring nature on their phones. Jet skis lazily knock around in the water. In the distance, you can make out a handful of yachts flaunting their wealth.

The clip has some hitches, like an erratic NPC pop-in or umbrella cloth that frantically deforms as Jason touches it. At the same time, many fans suspect that the build in all the videos is at least a year old — so the final product may have more polish. More importantly, the gameplay confirms that the beach will be exactly what Rockstar promised. Arguably, the footage may be better than what Rockstar showed the public. The variety of NPCs — their clothes, body shapes, and conversations — could be the basis of a walking simulator in itself. Fittingly, this is one of the few leaks hackers have shown off that doesn't end in a murderous rampage.

A few hours after the beach leak, GTA communities have been filling up with all sorts of excited posts and positive memes. "Rockstar cooked once again," one Reddit commenter declared. "The beach feels alive," another said.

Undoubtedly, we'll get a better look at all of GTA 6's impressive environmental details when Rockstar and Netflix broadcast an exclusive trailer reveal on Aug. 27.
