Rockstar fans on PC know the routine by now. A major game arrives on consoles, everyone starts talking about it, and anyone waiting for a computer version has to keep dodging spoilers. Owning hardware capable of running the game doesn’t help much when there’s no version available to install.

That wait can also turn an anticipated release into an expensive decision. Players can buy a console to join in immediately or hold out for their preferred platform without knowing when it will arrive. Grand Theft Auto V made PC players wait roughly nineteen months after its original console debut. A new report suggests Rockstar’s next trip to Vice City could reach them considerably sooner.

Grand Theft Auto VI is reportedly targeting a PC release in the first quarter of 2027, according to new reports. Four anonymous industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans were cited in the report, placing the proposed launch between January and March. With the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions scheduled for November 19, 2026, that would reduce the gap to months, although Rockstar has not announced a PC release date.

‘GTA 6’ Could Reach PC Much Faster Than Rockstar’s Previous Games

The comparison with GTA V explains why this window would matter. That game first released on consoles in September 2013, before reaching PC in April 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 also launched on consoles first, debuting October 26, 2018, with its PC release following on November 5, 2019. A first-quarter launch for GTA VI would be substantially faster than either. For players considering a console purchase specifically for the sequel, that changes the calculation. Waiting a few months is a different proposition from potentially missing more than a year of conversation around the game. It could make holding onto an existing PC the more appealing option. The report still describes a planned window, however, so it doesn’t give buyers a confirmed alternative to November’s console release.

Rockstar’s announced story follows Jason and Lucia, whose criminal partnership pulls them into a conspiracy across Leonida after an easy score goes wrong. The setting brings the series back to modern-day Vice City, with the surrounding state expanding the adventure beyond the familiar destination. The official launch announcement says the additional development time is intended to deliver the polish players expect.

For now, November 19 remains the confirmed release date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with early 2027 the reported target for PC.
