The wait is almost over for Grand Theft Auto 6, with the official release this November fast-approaching. It's been a long and stressful journey for GTA 6 fans, with various delay announcements and dozens of controversial leaks and rumors surfacing over the years. As gamers gear up to finally get their hands on what could well be the biggest game of the decade, there's one huge change from previous GTA games that has fans on alert.

GTA 6's Wanted System Sounds Impressive

While nothing about Grand Theft Auto 6's Wanted System has been officially confirmed yet and leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, the details about the new system are too intriguing not to unpack. For starters, the leak suggests dynamic interactions with police in GTA 6 that could result in a highly realistic and immersive gameplay experience.

If true, police will respond to crimes within a designated search radius around where players commit them, and will "actively track suspects based on last known activity." This is a huge upgrade from previous systems, such as in GTA 5 where cops would literally just appear out of nowhere at times and ambush players by surprise, even if you're miles from where the "crime" took place.

Further, the leak suggests complex police behavior, where cops will be able to recognize players if they're still cruising around in the same vehicle they were when the crime was committed, encouraging players to ditch their ride to remain under their radar. Apparently, "law enforcement units will coordinate across ground and air, using patrol routes, helicopters, and surveillance patterns to narrow down targets."

Essentially, it seems that fans could be in for a new and improved Red Dead Redemption 2-style Wanted System, which is more or less universally hailed among Rockstar fans for its realism. While the details surrounding GTA 6's Wanted system are still entirely speculative, fans are in for a major upgrade from previous iterations, even if only a portion of these rumors are true.

GTA 6 Leaks Are Everywhere

Over the course of the last five or so years since GTA 6 was first announced, countless leaks have surfaced to fuel rumors and speculation about the finer details of the project. While many leaks remain unverified or are debunked rather quickly, there are quite a few reputable leaks that have given players plenty to chew on and theorize over.

However, the details about GTA 6's Wanted System derive from the massive 2022 gameplay leak that was actually verified internally at Rockstar, giving players a real glimpse at what to expect. That said, the specifics about this new Wanted system are completely fan-generated theories based on the leaked footage, and gamers are going to have to wait and see how the system actually works when Grand Theft Auto 6 finally launches this fall.
