Grand Theft Auto 6 is undeniably the biggest and most sought-after video game of 2026, and it isn't even out yet. Fans of GTA have been waiting 13 years for a new entry, and those completely new to the series likely can't help but get swept away in all of the hype. Naturally, with everyone clamoring to get a copy, one has to factor in price. With how expensive gaming as a hobby can be nowadays, budgeting for specific titles is important. However, that may not be possible when it costs upwards of $100 to get it.
That is why any free GTA 6-related products are important to players, as the opportunity to get to play it and still save a significant chunk of money would, obviously, be ideal. Fortunately, for some, this has been possible, albeit with a lot of hard work. GTA 6 has practically been given away for free, and, naturally, the fandom is ecstatic about the news. While not everyone will get to experience this, some may just manage to get GTA 6 for free in the same way, if they are truly determined.
It turns out that the long-term hustle of a particularly eager Grand Theft Auto 6 fan has paid off, as they've managed to get the game entirely for free. As reported by GTA 6 Countdown on X, an Xbox user has managed to obtain a $100 gift card via Microsoft Rewards points. Specifically, it cost them 98,000 points to get the gift card, which, according to GTA 6 Countdown, can take upwards of eight months to achieve by completing daily tasks, unlocking achievements, and even using Bing.
This is, naturally, an impressive feat, one that will garner them the controversial GTA 6 Ultimate Edition and thus unlock all available content for them. Of course, this can, in theory, be replicated by any other truly determined players, but it requires a serious amount of hard work and a lot of spare time. While Rockstar or other affiliated companies may do some form of official giveaway in the future, for those who want to get it completely for free, minus the potentially eight-month-long grind, Microsoft Rewards points are evidently the way to go.
Naturally, fans, who have thus far been forced to react to multiple GTA 6 controversies, have had a lot of fun praising this incredible accomplishment in the comments. User fromzyro joked, "using Bing every day for 8 months to get GTA 6 for free might be the most dedicated gaming grind I've ever seen," with another, GTA 6 Cook, sharing a similar sentiment by commenting, "Daily tasks and use bing, I’d rather pay $100."
Others, like user WolfgangVanBach have been sharing their current number of Microsoft Reward points, showcasing just how close they are to achieving the same goal. Some, like WolfgangVanBach are pretty close, while others are tens of thousands of points away. Still, the grind and determination is great to see, and it is refreshing to know that there is a way for those unable to afford it to still get a chance of playing Grand Theft Auto 6 when it releases in November, or, perhaps more likely, eight months from now.
