Despite all of the excitement around the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, we really know very little detail about what exactly the game is going to be like when it finally gets here in November.

That leaves us with just the two trailers as actual tangible sources of information, which leaves an immense void behind for speculation from the game's considerable community. One of the areas that is currently causing some debate is just how big it's going to be, and how many games we're going to have to delete to get it loaded onto our consoles.

Over on Reddit, one user shared a post asking fans to take bets on just how much space GTA VI will take up on their hardware, and it's safe to say that however big it does end up being, players are willing to delete everything else to get it installed.

"No more than 300gb because that would require more than 3 discs. I think they want a real physical release, and I can't see more than 3 discs being used," one comment read.

"GTA V got reduced to 90GB with Enhanced. So they seem to know what they’re doing to an extent, and I reckon it won’t be UE5-bloatware levels big, relative to the map size. My bet is that they do some wizardry and fit it into 140GB if not less," another added.

"I'm going to say that launch size will be 195GB. They'll do their hardest to actually keep it under 200 for launch, I think. Now where will it end up? After 3 years and online and expansions, I could easily see it hitting 370gb. Rockstar actually optimizes," a third posited.

GTA 6 Is Certain To Take Up Lots Of Space

Whatever the final number does end up being, GTA VI is going to be a very big game. As mentioned earlier, both Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V comfortably clock in above 100 GB apiece, and both of those are quite old releases at this point.

Call of Duty is another reasonable marker to look at, with the full download for that hovering around 150 GB, though that is a notable reduction from its 200 GB peak. Rockstar has an impressive history of compression, so hopefully they can get GTA VI over the line in a way that means we don't have to entirely purge our console's storage to install it.
