Grand Theft Auto 6 has not known a moment’s peace since it was announced, and it has been a particularly inflamed hotbed of rumors and leaks lately. Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks have been rampant for years, of course, but many are sprouting that are almost instantly caught and trimmed like the weeds they are, while others, like the whole pre-order debacle, have required fans to wait to see if they hold any water.

With less than half a year to go now until Grand Theft Auto 6’s release date has arrived, fans will want to entertain the thought of any leaks they see, especially ones that hint and more details about the game, and that is due to how little official marketing Grand Theft Auto 6 has received beyond a couple of excellent trailers and the same asset materials that fans have been able to peruse on Rockstar’s website. Xbox has now provided an ‘update’ of sorts that fans can rally behind, leaving a lot to be desired on Rockstar’s part.

An official Xbox social media account, which recently rebranded to XBOX, reiterated the November 19 release date and shared an old link for fans to add Grand Theft Auto 6 to their wishlists. Therefore, as Twitter/X user GTA 6 Countdown states, “Xbox is doing more marketing for Grand Theft Auto 6 than Rockstar Games.”

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has done a bit of PR for Grand Theft Auto 6 lately, and he also reiterated the release date. If nothing else, this could pave the way for a marketing campaign launching this summer, with pre-orders maybe not too far behind, as they were originally rumored to go live earlier in May.

User Wall Street Conqueror agrees, writing, “A bit sad, a bit funny, but true. I believe Take-Two will launch a big marketing campaign for GTA 6 very soon,” while user I’m Jacob Junior comments, “GTA 6 might be the only game in the world capable of dominating the internet with almost complete silence from its developers.”

It would certainly make a statement if Rockstar’s sole marketing tactic were to release numbered trailers. Almost two and a half years went by between Trailer 1 and Trailer 2, and it has now been more than a year since Trailer 2, but Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 3 does not have the luxury of waiting another year or so to premiere on YouTube, with its release date now on the horizon.

Rockstar has proven that it does not need to wait for a momentous occasion like a State of Play, Summer Game Fest, or Xbox Games Showcase, with a lone post announcing the release date being all fans got before Trailer 2. It would be unprecedented if Grand Theft Auto 6 did appear at any of these events airing within a week of one another at the start of June, though that would be a fantastic way to catch fans with their guards down as they await updates on Marvel’s Wolverine and Gears of War: E-Day.
